I don't think he can be called world class yet, he hasn't had a prolonged period of excellence over more than one full season.

Goalscoring records are made to look so ordinary by Ronaldo and Messi as well, they distort everything.

didn;t stop people calling Bale World Class but I concur......I think we can put him in the potentially world class bracket,.

You can't even say it's because they play in a **** league because Ronaldo was scoring for fun here as well.

sturridge does bring me to the edge of my seat, but mostly when he is tackled and goes down...
he has become so important to us that i worry what our option is if he is out injured.

he was a little unknown when at chelsea, and his loan spell at bolton showed his true potential.
he returned to chelsea and still managed a few goals, even from playing wide on the wing.
as soon as i saw him at bolton i knew he would be something special and would have loved for us to have taken him as part of the torres deal at the time.

          from wiki;
          Style of play

Former Chelsea manager André Villas-Boas said, “Daniel offers a few of the characteristics I had with Hulk when I was with him in Porto... He is an extremely quick player, and he has technique at pace."[63][64]
Sturridge said he preferred to play as a centre-forward rather than as a wide player. "I do still see myself as a striker but I am doing a job for the team and I'm enjoying doing it". Sturridge also said that he models himself on Thierry Henry who, "played wide for Juventus and then went to Arsenal and played as a centre-forward."[65]
Indeed, although rarely played for Chelsea as a striker, at Liverpool, manager Brendan Rodgers has played Sturridge in the majority of games as a striker. His ability to still drop between lines and pull wide and attack defences, similar to strike partner Suarez's playing style, has led to Rodgers describing him as, 'what I call a 'nine-and-a-half'[66], alluding to how his style of play is somewhere between a classic 'no.9' and a 'no.10'.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Surely his reputation came from his City days and he failed to live up to that until he joined us?

he seemed a little **** at city, but didnt get many chances. he was citys young player of the year in 08/09.

chelsea then took him and after six months they sent him on loan to bolton, where he really stood out.

But he looked **** hot at youth level, particularly in that final against us. That's why he was able to let his contract run down, confident he could join whatever club he wanted.

He only got a chance in his final season, He wasn't even 20 and he scored 4 and 3 assists in 16 games .......13 of which he was substitute

                  Thats a pretty decent return.

City were pissed off that he went. If I remember correctly they even took Chelsea to court to get a development fee or something?!

A headed goal against UTD is worth 100.

He did score 1 with his arm against Sunderland if that helps...
