what about a 'singing section'Originally posted by Charly View PostWe had so many great songs during Rafas reign, we seem to have run out of creative juice. Must have been some latin thing. Hopefully our league position will get it flowing again.

I didn't particularly want us to sign sturridge, shows how little about football I know he's been an absolute steal!! The media are waxing lyrical over Torres scoring an open goal and here we have their former striker signed for a pittance who has just scored his 21st goal in 27 appearances for usKurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

I'm going to throw this out there, don't really care if I get lambasted.
He's better than Torres at the same stages in their careers, and if he continues on the same trajectory, he will be better than peak Torres.
He has more to his game than him - his all round game is better (first touch, distance shooting and passing), his physicality is better, his attitude (atm) is better. I'm not sure he has the dead eyed ruthlessness of Torres, or whether having Suarez at the same club is lifting him, but that doesn't matter. Torres had peak Gerrard.
I love the fact he's taking his opportunity and he's playing with such enthusiasm and energy. January was a mindblowing transfer window, it really was.

Not sure about that. He's certainly not as clinical as Torres was. It's definitely fair to make the case - he has the attributes and, lately, the goal-scoring record. But when Torres went through one v one, you knew he'd score. You KNEW. He was a real assassin. Not sure the same applies to Sturridge...yet.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostI'm going to throw this out there, don't really care if I get lambasted.

That said he's in a different stratosphere to what I had expected. I reckon even the people who rated him a very good signing could not have expected this. He looks one of the very best centre forwards in Europe. On top of that he seems a great kid with a great attitude. Improvement is almost guaranteed and that's scary.
