Don't think it matters. He's either injured and can't /shouldn't play or he is capable of playing and therefore we can't complain if we allow him to join up with England and they choose to play him.

We pay his wages though so although it is a bit hypocritical given we played him with the same injury, He should have been pulled out of the squad by the club, same with Gerrard and everyone else who wants to join up with a squad for any game if it's better for us that they don't play.

Lfc should be his priority but the lad has a chance to play in a world cup against some amazing teams so hes going to do his best to get there.

In the absence of champions league football the world cup gives you a chance to play against some of the best players in the world but nevertheless we pay his wages so that's where the loyalty should lie.

I agree that Rodgers doesn't have the balls to take on Gerrard.

If he bangs in 20 league goals and doesnt play another friendly for England between now and June he'd still be on the plane. Brendan should remind him of that.

And I don't think Brendan is a big enough figure yet at LFC to drop Gerrard, he's Mr Liverpool, a huge figure in the club with both fans and players.

That said Brendans stock among the fans is rising and Gerrards contribution is increasingly being questioned by the fan base so maybe the time will arrive soon where he feels able to do it, after some big January signings perhaps.

Who could possibly take his position up front for England? He doesn't even need 20 goals, he just needs to get goals semi regularly to still be ensured his position.

Roy Hodgson is in charge anything could happen, for no rational reason
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I've seen it mentioned a few times that Rodgers doesn't have the balls to drop Gerrard. But realistically, who would you drop him for? Even at 70% he's better than any alternative we would bring in to bench him for a game.

It's more that Rodgers doesn't have the options to drop him. He's still our best central midfielder by a country mile. Rodgers pretty much told Gerrard to give up internationals after the 2014 World Cup.

If Rodgers can drop his own £15m players, I wouldn't question his balls over dropping anyone.

im not sure if stevie should be an automatic starter next season. he was a great player for LFC but every team moves on.

In the games he's been imperious, the opposition have stood off us and allowed him the space and time to do what he wants, but every time we come up against a very good side he's not as effective anymore.

I don't think he will be an automatic starter next season. I think we'll buy a couple of central midfielders over the next couple of windows.

I certainly don't think it's a case of Rodgers not having balls to drop him. I think it's more a case of not having alternative options. He had no issues in leaving Carragher benched for first half of his reign

Could we not recycle the maxi Rodriguez song?

                              Danny,
                              Oh Daniel Sturridge,
He scores a goal for me.

It's a shame Maxi didn't hang around. He would have thrived with Rodgers as manager
