He played 60 minutes and 30 minutes. If he can't handle that he should retire.

These pitches don't help players today, they are too hard.

He's done. He's got the bone density of a 90yr old.
Why would that be relevant to a muscle injury?
        Oh I don't know.

I love Klopp and the start he's made but Rodgers would have been slaughtered for
          1. Dropping Origi after a hat trick and
          2. Including Sturridge for his 2nd game in 4 days after best part of a year out injured.

If Benteke was going to start (as he obviously did) then just leave Sturridge out, ease him back in by either letting him train and rest before another 60 mins at Sion or leave him out of that as well to allow 10 days training before starting v West Brom.

It's amateur from the club, every single player who is out for a long period of time are more susceptible to muscle injuries as the body builds up strength and resistance.

Biggest problem with Sturridge is we're so desperate for him to play he isn't allowed to build up his workload gradually to give him a chance of staying fit.
The club are letting him down, of course Sturridge is fragile but so have been loads of footballers before him, it's almost as though Klopp and his staff bought the mentally weak bollocks and included him to make a point, similar to forcing Owen back early from injuries back in the day.

I really do hope the club consult you from here on in on Doc

But so very few are privvy to what goes on inside Anfield these days, are you sure you should be saying so much on a forum?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Isn't two appearances of less than 90mins allowing him to build his workload gradually?

We're going all out on the clichés today. It's the boots, they offer no support.

And the players spend so much time in floatation tanks these days that their legs aren't used to supporting their body weight.

Within 4 days of each other?
After best part of 12 months out?
Add in the travel from Southampton to Newcastle?

Absolutely no recovery time whatsoever for Sturridge.

Players and surgeons alike seem to think there's something in it, the boots too, the turf just doesn't give like it used to, it's not a problem for certain types of player, but for others i feel it could be.

He's made of glass ... he came to us with already a reputation of being injury prone, people questioned why Chelsea sold him to us, perhaps they knew.

Lovely guy, great player, sell at the earliest possible opportunity

Sturridge was out for a long time with the hip/groin injury operated on and rehab'd over in America, best part of 12 months?
Came back, built up his training then got a whack on his knee from Ibe in training so was put back 2-3 weeks or so?
Back to square 1 as a lot of the work done would be lost in the period of inactivity - Klopp himself said that he couldn't even do bike work because of the knee.

Then he came back, trained for a week/10 days or so? injured his foot, sent for scan, all clear, back in squad, unused sub.

Start at Southampton, 60 minutes, Klopp on interview says he had no idea if Sturridge was fit enough to last that long, might have blown up after 25/30.
Klopp also said in the same or a different interview that Sturridge didn't have to play in every game and they had to be clever/careful with him.

Travel back Wednesday night, probably in for a recovery session Thursday pm, light training Friday and Sat at some point before travelling to Newcastle, warm up, cool down on the bench, warm up, sit back down again, warm up get ready to come on get injured.

With a muscle injury, unrelated to his previous injuries, a hamstring is a fatigue injury where the muscle is weak or tired, maybe both.

In Sturridge's case it's pretty clear that 2 games in 4 days with all the travel after punctuated training following 12 months out = a risk of muscle injury.

This is the internet, that is my opinion. Agree, disagree it is a free country after all (for the time being anyway )

Dont see anyone taking that up? 5 years 150k a week. Whether we want him or not, He is with us for the long haul !!

Think all we can do is buy a top class striker and have Sturridge as an added b0onus for the 5 games he is fit in a season.

If he ever needs a break from all of his angst, I am prepared to swap roles and salary with him.
