It depends on who is available. We shouldn't just be looking for someone to get us through this season we need a long term option. If that player isn't available then we shouldn't panic buy we should wait until the summer before spending cash. If that means getting a loan in for 6 months or even writing off the remainder of the season because we can't get the right player I'd rather do that than be lumbered with another Balotelli, Borini Aspas etc.

The days of having to worry about spending 10-15 million on some shoite is over. Better to try with nearly a month of the window left than not risk it for the sake of what is now chump change. Would people be appalled if say Charlie Austin or Dembélé were bought in January? I wouldn't if whichever was bought added 10-12 goals in all comps.

Is it though? if Austin or Dembélé are what you want as our long term solution fair enough, if you are signing them just to get through this season and are wanting to bring someone else in in the summer that money IMO is probably better spent in the summer and buying a £30m player rather than two £15m players.
