Looks so weak out there. Afraid to put his foot in, afraid to stretch for a ball, afraid to sprint, throwing his arms in the air and falling to ground the moment he's touched. If this is how he's going to play i'd rather give game time to Origi.
And where was he for the penalties??? You'd think your world class striker getting paid 150k a week would step up to take one wouldn't you - rather than watch defensive midfielders."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

He's out there and building fitness. He did get involved but he's not 100%, not even 70% imo.Originally posted by Harv View PostLooks so weak out there. But in reality your a bit of a prick because you castigated him for not playing through the pain and putting in effort yet here he is and you tell us all he's ****.Was muß, das muß.

That's a little bit harsh, don't you think? Agree with foresterbloke, he's nowhere near full-match fit. We all know what he is capable of. I know you're frustrated but c'mon.. lad gave 120min, but he could easily leave at 60...Originally posted by Harv View PostLooks so weak out there. Yeah, he's out there playing finally- but you can't possibly tell me he looks like he's giving anywhere near full effort.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostHe's out there and building fitness. He did get involved but he's not 100%, not even 70% imo.

He lost the ball numerous times trying to hold the ball up and just flopped to the ground hoping he'd get a free kick. Then barely moved a muscle trying to get the ball back. 70% level fitness (Personally i think thats a load of crap BTW, Klopp wouldn't be playing him if he was that low on fitness, thats what that 10 session pre-season was supposed to do) just means he'll run out of steam quicker, not that he's excused from putting in a shift.
He also hardly moves for balls that he needs to exert himself for. If the balls not played right where he wants it, he gives up on it. Id assume this is due to his head being wrecked from the soft tissue injuries he thinks he'll get, so he doesn't stretch fully for them. Its not good enough."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

How many games does it take for people to get match fit?Originally posted by lickedlollipop View PostThat's a little bit harsh, don't you think? He's had what? 5 games now? Thats plenty of time to start showing signs of getting up to speed.
This also doesn't excuse him from not showing up for the penalties. He's our main striker FFS and is letting two of the worst shooters in the team take them! Lucas and Lallana shouldn't be anywhere near pens. Milner was by all accounts our 5th taker, but Hendo and Studge not stepping up before Lucas and Lallana shows why this team is where it is."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Much like Suarez, he's ****ing awful at penalties and he also could barely walk by that stage. Lucas scored a great penalty in our last shootout so I had no worries about him. Not a big fan of Henderson taking them either. The best 5 to take them probably did. They just took bad ones.
He's been out a long time too, he hasn't completed a game at all since coming back before yesterday. will take him time to build up fitness and mental toughness that's he's not about to break down again.

Is he though? I'd have thought a striker as clinical as he is would be quite good at them.
Lucas and Lallana are two of our worst strikers of the ball we've got. Lucas had a great game, but i had no confidence in him getting that goal. Ditto with Lallana.
Henderson was supposedly our number one penalty taker in Stevies absence wasn't he? Ive no doubt he's **** at them and agreed when Balotelli took the ball from him. But id rather him than Lucas and Lallana.
Had no faith in Coutinho either FWIW. You just knew he was going to try some fancy **** and he basically couldn't have hit a worse penalty in the end. Just smash the ****ing thing into the corner FFS.
Can surprised me with his, didn't think he had that in him. Risky, but well executed. I'd have put my house on him trying to smash it through the back of the net down the middle and putting it into orbit like Charlie Adam

I can only remember one penalty from Sturridge for us, I think against Everton for his hattrick, it was an abysmal effort and he missed. Suarez missed his ones too. Messi is awful at them. Being a striker means **** all when it comes to penalties. Phil neal was our best taker of them for years.
We don't have many lads good at them because as we've seen in many games, they lack bottle and that's the biggest part of penalty taking in my mind.
