The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I disagree with your interpretation. His goals to game ratio and proven quality gives him the right to always be in the team when fit. At least thats how I see it and imo is probably far more likely how he or klopp sees it.

Have faith in his quality. Every striker has patches of bad form. Fair enough if you don't have faith in him staying injury free but I think after all the performances Sturridge has put in when he has played, people are very quick to criticise him.

He was getting stick months ago for not caring about football, was accused of not trying hard enough to be fit for it. Now he is criticised for arguably caring too much when he is subbed. I don't like the sulking but I can understand his perspective.

Not every player will fit into the stereotype of 'good english pro' that football fans like to believe in.

Not sure any top managers would see it that way.

                  Not sure fans should either.

I have the upmost faith is his quality and ability, I've backed him to the hilt during his troubles out injured. However, nobody has any right to be in any team based on historical performance. The only thing that matters are performances here and now and he isn't giving anyone any reason to pick him aside from the fact the other strikers aren't much better. He's not working hard, he's selfish with the ball, he's not using space well and creating it for others and he's not taking chances when he gets them. The only thing saving him is the fact none of the other strikers are either except for Divock who does all the other things really well but doesn't score which is a bit of a problem.

He is coming back from a long time out and deserves some latitude but the attitude has to be right and it doesn't look like it is to me. Firmino up top is still our best option right now imo using Divock late in games to stretch tired opposition legs.

I think I'm at the opposite end of the Daniel Sturridge spectrum to Harv, but Thursday night was a watershed moment where I lost patience with him. He pissed me off with the seeming lack of effort, the whinging when passes to him weren't perfect and his poor decision making and all round play. Hate to say it, but he doesn't look anything like a Klopp player at the moment.

Danny Ings then. He runs and runs and runs and runs, even if he's too knackered to even shoot on goal.

Come on, there are some players who have been classed as luxury during their careers but who've helped clubs win trophies. Cantona for example. Didn't do much defensively but his quality probably ensured they won more games than they drew or lost.

Sturridge has got to be in the team when he's fit. Even if he doesn't run all game.

Cantona had the team built around him, he was centre point for everything they did back then. Not sure Sturridge is being fforded that, or whether he can ever have tht given his ****ty appearance record.

Yeah, true. If Sturridge keeps on scoring, I can't see Klopp having a problem with him not doing some defensive work. I don't think he's got it in him to be a harassing centre forward anyway, that's not his style.

If Klopp feels he wouldn't suit his tactics, then so be it, but there will be plenty of suitors for Sturridge if we decide to let go. If he ends up at Arsenal, we may regret it.

                                A performing sturridge does.

                                A non performing one doesn't.

I want rid because of the injuries. If he didn't get injured often then I'd be happy to keep him I wanted rid of agger (my fav CB for ages) for the same reason.

We pay a lot of money. I want players to be available. It's not their fault they get injured but it doesn't mean I want them.

Oh and a problem when a player knows they have to be in the team can mean poorer performances.
