I think its great we're keeping him on his toes. Expecting at least 10 more goals from him now, specially with the teams we've got left to play.

Valuable if he stays and valuable if he goes. So long as he doesn't have another extended period out injured it's a win win.

its a difficult one, we play better as a team without him but the lack the same goalscoring threat, we need him to stay up top and run the channels more.

If we had better players in the midfield, he could stand on the penalty spot and put it in the net twice a game, but we dont have that luxury at the moment.

It'll be a shame as I think he's incredibly talented but he needs to work harder to be a central part of Klopps plans and can he stay fit ?

If we can get someone more consistent and less of a pussy then get rid.

Ideally you'll want someone to offer his talent as well, this is where it becomes difficult

Think the criticism of Sturridge is unfair. He's been out for the best part of two seasons and IMO it's ****ed with his head. When fit - he's excellent. He shows great movement, he has pace, he stretches the opposition defence, is a constant threat and he scores goals (goals to game ratio is fantastic). He's by far our best striker.
                  Another MASSIVE game

I don't think many posters are questioning his ability; they are questioning where he fits in Klopp's system and whether he's truly applying himself. Whilst you're right in that he scores goals and is our biggest threat, I don't think he is a constant threat.

You could argue that United's heads had dropped or our confidence was brimming, but Origi coming on and being a willing running runner down the channels improved our function as a team. That's the crux of the issue; Klopp will want a team unified, pulling in the one direction as a collective.

With Sturridge in the team, he will always be a threat because of how he good he is individually. Whether we will function in a way Klopp wants, I don't know. Judging by Sturridge's demeanour, his attitude on the pitch and my gut, I think he's moving on in the summer. I'm not saying that's what I want, just what I think will happen.

Does that work as a 2-3 midfield though? Individually, we have very good players in the middle of the park and on paper, it looks great. In reality, Henderson struggles as one of a sitting two, Firmino's best work is behind the striker and Lallana would not work wide right.

i would say that system only works with a goal scorer at the top of it like Sturridge to give defenders anything to worry about it.

Still would like a Kante / Mascherano player in there when we play the better teams.

You think that represents one of best midfield units around?

This is the problem for me, I like most of the players we have in the midfield areas, but I am not convinced that we have an effective system. The deeper part of the midfield is real problem IMO we obviously want to play two there and 3 further forward, but no combination of Henderson, Milner, Can and Lucas seems to work, which leaves us with 2 other options: 1) we drop an attacking midfielder for someone in a deeper role or 2) we bring someone in who can play alongside one of those to make an effective two man system. I guess what could influence that decision is how threatening Sturridge or a new striker is, if our striker is on fire and banging in the goals then dropping at attacking mid may not be so much of a problem, but if we are struggling for goals reducing that threat further could be a real problem.

The midfield situation has me wondering if all bets could be off regarding who stays and who goes in the midfield in the summer.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
