We know he is injury prone and I have no idea how much his attitude impacted on him playing but he needs to leave now and hopefully we can get a £10m ish for him.
I still maintain that he is/was a superb player.

Aye. He was mint. Injuries have ruined what should have been a brilliant career.Originally posted by Irishnev View Post

Ability wise, I think he could have been one of the best forwards England have ever produced.
Asides from some spells in his career though, at times on the wing at Chelsea, on-loan at Bolton and that great year he had with Liverpool, he hasn't been able to play enough.
Still only 28 and its pretty much in ruins. He debuted at what 17 for city?Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

He was a very good player, you look at his record for us it's basically 1 in 2, and for a long time it was much better than that. But the appearance stats tell the other side of that, in the last 4 years he has started a total of 54 club games in all competitions and only 32 PL matches. I'm not sure what level he is really at or how much injuries have taken out of him but we can't rely on him, and I think our side has moved on.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He did 'do a job' though. He provided experienced cover on the bench until December while Solanke found his feet and Ings built up match fitness. To start the season with Solanke as our only backup would have been madness and to replace him with a player of equal ability would have cost far too much, considering they wouldn't play much.Originally posted by baitman View Posthow many forum members were saying at the start of last season that he could come back and 'do a job' for us...
I think the finger pointing should be saved for those that argued that Bobby couldn't 'do a job' up front. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Would like to think he's worth more but given his injury record that's probably not far off
Edit: just seen 'upto £9M' which means with add on so we probably won't get close to that
