when you consider that we've got Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Henderson in that area it beggars belief that we can't put put a competitive and energetic midfield.

Our biggest problems are in midfield and tactics aren't clever either.

Simple fix

Henderson, Sturridge and Borini on

Allen, Sterling and Downing off

Downing was starting to get past his man regularly towards the end, so might be worth leaving on for a bit..

Hopefully we've seen the end of Allen as a starter. Lightweight, headless and completely gutless. Had such high hopes

Absolutely terrible, its like we have no energy for it. Its our biggest league fixture of the season and we are just without spark.

The midfield has no creativity going forward and is suspect defensively, so if we've set up cautiously, we're no use for anything.

Lucas is still miles away from where he was, distribution has been poor. Allen looks scared, devoid of ideas and seems to have forgotten most of what made him stand out for Swansea.

Sterling isn't able to beat his man, isn't offering much. I'd take him off and bring Sturridge on. Henderson for either of Lucas or Allen is a no brainer.

He's been double up anytime he is about to receive the ball.

That said with exception of Suarez and GJ we really don't have any other player that has that skill in his arsenal and that is causing problems.

As soon as Downing, Wisdom, Allen, Gerrard etc receieve the ball you know they will pass.
