What I was going to sayOriginally posted by danperkins View PostCan't only turn up for 15 to 20 mins against united in old Trafford. Too many passengers and hopefully some lessons learned by Rogers.
United were much the better side, without even getting into second gear.
United were in total control of the first half and they bossed the midfield, Carrick picked out passes for fun.
2nd half we were much better, our shape was better, we held the ball up better and Sturridge is something different. Ball stick to him, he can run in behind and he scored a poachers goal. Dirk Kuyt-esque
Gutted we didn't turn up for 90 minutes today because we could have easily got a point!
We played better when we didn't crowd the midfield and sit so deep.. Maybe we're more suited to a 442 type formation.Vive la France

His subs were goodOriginally posted by marcus50bucks View PostImpressed with the second half. Like what I saw in Sturridge. I can see why people will be frustrated by him at times but he's a big threat.
Rodgers again making mistakes with his line-up and substituitions. He's got to start getting this right on a consistent basis. I really feel Allen will be his achilles heel as I said in the match thread.

Usual bollocks indeed.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostUsual bollocks from this season.
Played well in patches. Still not able to beat one of the 'big teams'
Ill advised starting lineup, then the second half starts, we get caught sleeping, we start performing after changes have been made but lose the game again.
Henderson looks a far better bet than Allen just now. He's more of a physical presence and is clearly a lot better through the centre than Brendan gave him credit for.
Henderson should be a starter on form just now.
Fergie closed the game out with the defensive subs.

this season Utd are poor defensively but rely on outscoring the opposition. It works for them but can see them getting ripped apart by Madrid.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostNope. Terrible all round first half, much improved in the second.
Sturridge was a breath of fresh air when he came on.
Too many players went missing today and that is worrying. We need mentally tough players who can perform at this level and I think we just have too many lightweights being carried by a few."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

They are.... The match, them being top of the league ahead of us by some ridiculous numbers of points and the fact they have been competing for the league title every season for decades now.Originally posted by kev776 View PostThey are not a better side, the second half proved that. In the first half we let them play.
Downing should never play again, weakest man in the squad.

Rogers is learning some harsh lessons with his personnel choices.

Agree about Allen.Originally posted by Marina View PostIf this was intended to be a "barometer" of our progress then I think it about sums it up. We started poorly, very poorly indeed, but the second half we were far and away the better side. For all his shortcomings in the first half, Allen wasn't nearly as bad in the second. Everyone put in a better shift and Sturridge made all the difference. Hope we see that from him consistently!
Honestly, it could have been way worse going to Old Trafford. Could've been really embarrassing but this loss was much easier to swallow than the loss of the reverse fixture. Comparatively, I don't feel like I never want to watch a game of football again, so that's always a plus.
It might be because he had more option, he can't carry the ball very well so he need to have a pass on. Sterling isn't ready for this type of game IMO so it's nice to have Borini back, he was rusty but he's stronger and kept the ball a bit better.
Henderson almost made up quicken the tempo when he came on, lots of movement and energy.Vive la France
