He's right we do need someone.

id be tempted to switch to a back three with carra in there. He's so important to the team because of his constant awareness and organisation of players, positions. He can also help the midfield and the younger players in the team.

Agger seems to me the type to get on with his own game and skrtel still looks very shaky at times.

Skrtel has arguably been better than Agger this year in my mind. I also think the need for an organiser is overstated. These players know their jobs. We seem to have a decent defensive record. Especially recently.

So you want to change a back line that is starting to work well and change the formation to include a guy that whilst has been brilliant for us legs look to have gone. Who would you take out to bring him in?

It would for me change the whole dynamic of the side which is starting to click

I like our centre back pairing of Agger and Skrtel, however I would like to see one of them show more leadership and responsibility back there telling people were they should be, so I can kind of see what you are saying.

I think the past 2 seasons Skrtel has been on par with Agger at least!

They're both really good defenders and have both took to the new system really well, Skrtel had that 1 mistake when trying to play out but other than that they've been excellent.

Carragher has played well in every game he's came in as well, hasn't let us down at all, I like many thought he was finished but after this seasons performances I'd be more than happy for him to stay on another year.

I'd loan Coates out to get some game time and bring in another youngish defender under the age of 24 and let him take Coates place in the squad next season. When Carragher goes then we'll have Agger and Skrtel with a new CB and we'll have an answer on Coates, if he's good enough.

I have no problem with someone being brought in due to the Carra age and Coates perhaps going on loan idea, very sensible really I don't agree with changing to a back 3 though, our CB pairing is good at the moment.

Already have one, Agger is captain of denmark, when ppl **** up back there he is always on their case. I think the blotches in the defensive game this season can be attributed mainly to teething problems with Rodgers approach to the game. If agger has a weakness it is his tendency to sometimes try and do too much himself, Thus getting drawn out of position.

                            We have one, Daniel Agger.

                            Problem solved.

Absolutely. Changing our shape to accomodate a 'vocal' person, regardless of ability is a bit daft.

Plus, looking at a 'leader' in the backline is misleading and ignores the issues of our current defensive set-up; mainly around concentration and positional sense. Skrtel and Agger are our centre-back pairing on merit - looking at the goals we have conceded, they are not because someone isn't yelling at them, it's because they've been attracted to the ball or they get pulled out of position, mainly from our void behind the fullbacks.

Looking at the season as a whole, our defence has improved (slowly) as the season has gone on, which shows that Rodgers has identified the source and is working on that in training. And that's without swapping the personel or the formation.

As with everything else this season, it just needs time, patience and a little tweaking.
