He is most definitely capable of taking to the next level, he's proved he can. He only has 2 faults with his game.

1. Shooting. He'd be far from the only world class player ever to miss the odd sitter.
2. Inconsistent form. This is the killer. And this is what we're seeing now. If its mental or fitness I dunno.

He did have some off games last season too. Just never quite so off or prolonged.

His form has dipped and he's trying too hard IMO to turn it around. He's trying to play passes which just aren't on.

I think he needs to be back on the bench and come on and play in the #10 role to build his confidence back up. Once he's on song he can drop a bit deeper.

Our current formation doesn't suit a lot of our players. Coutinho's best position is the tip of the diamond but Sterling is better than him in that role. We instantly look better with the diamond.

Was very poor last night, but at the same time most of our good work came through him, albeit it was few and far between.

Lallana struggled too, although I'm putting that down to fitnesss, but if it was a choice between the two for the weekend, I'd stick with Phil and let Lallana work on his fitness in the CC a few days later.
