I think unlike Suarez he's very happy here. Suarez had well documented issues with the media, plus had family ties in Catalonia and was always going to jump at the chance to move there.

I think Coutinho is far happier here, whether it's quite enough to convince him to stay though when Barca inevitably come calling remains to be seen.

Suarez is the key for me. I think Coutinho is happy here and would like to stay a few more years, but Suarez is his mate and he can tell him honestly that as good as life is at LFC, it's better at Barca.

Barca on their own, I think we'd have a chance, Barca + Suarez calling, I'm not so sure.

Could maybe see a similar deal to Luis actually, sign a new contract, stay another year and if you want to leave, we won't stand in your way.

The flipside is that the new contract has buy-out fee - if Paul Pogba is £89m the Coutinho is £100m no problem. That's the price now.

Really? I'd never heard that before.

Coincidentally though (well sort of) Ballague was on the radio at lunchtime (yeah yeah I know) and seemed to be doubtful that Barca would have fat wads to throw in our direction due to upcoming contract negotiations with several players including LS and (I think he said) Messi.

Hard to argue with that and Barca/Real are prob the only clubs that can afford him where he 'might' go. PSG, Man City or United are not options for him and the fee will be a world record.

We don't need to sell, there is no indication he wants to go and the team is in an upward progression - all good 😀
