Trying to stay neutral, I don't think he should move so soon to Barca. He needs at least another season with us to develop consistency, but he manages that I think he's off.

He's scored 10 goals at a rate of roughly 1 in 3, which is much better than his previous ratio. He also works his balls off and wins plenty of possession back, something he wasn't known for previously. He's been bloody brilliant under Klopp if you ignore these last couple of games since he was sick.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe's a little magician when on his game but is he one of the few players that has actually hasn't really pushed on since Klopp came in? Really thought we would see the very best of him once a world class manager came in.
Outstanding talent albeit inconsistent. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yep, been excellent in the cups, goal and assist v Dortmund, ripped Man Utd apart, scored v City in the LC final, at West Ham etc and has 8 goals in 22 league starts along with 5 assists. Expectations on our players are a bit out of control sometimes.Originally posted by RedReet View PostHe's scored 10 goals at a rate of roughly 1 in 3, which is much better than his previous ratio. And his "bad April" involved scoring a great goal v Spurs, destroying and scoring v Everton and scoring and assists v one of the better teams in Europe, Dortmund. Heres to more bad times!!

High standards indeed. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Lallana has similar stats to him and he gets alot of stick. Coutinho is a far superior player and IMO should be doubling those stats. High standards indeed as he's on the cusp of being world class. FWIW I think he'll blow those stats out of the water next season.Last edited by danperkins; 06-05-16, 06:36 PM.

Lallana has 7 goals to Coutinho's 12 and it has taken him (Lallana) more games to get them. IMO we need more from both of them. Coutinho is a great player but as I've said before he reminds me of Steve McManaman - he is really creative but his finishing isn't as good as it should be, for the positions he gets himself into he should be getting more goals. He is someone you feel is more likely to score from outside the box than in it, which I guess ultimately means it is composure that he lacks. Looking at the chances he has had you feel if he can improve his finishing he is capable of getting 20 goals a season, and if we have a good striker with whom he can develop a good understanding you feel he could get a similar number of assists. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Think Lallana has 11 Goals & 8 Assists (Which I don't think many people would have thought, I know I didn't) but yeh I completely agree with what you are saying. I think both players are capable of more & I do feel like we'll see a more productive and consistent player in Coutinho come next season when Klopp gets together the team that he wants.Last edited by danperkins; 07-05-16, 10:47 AM.

There's nothing wrong with expecting more. I think both Coutinho and Firmino need to be more consistent, regardless of what the stats say about goals and statistics, and I mean that in terms of their overall play. We've seen glimpses of what they can offer, but in order to elevate themselves and ourselves to the next level, they need to produce these top performances more often.
