Come be honest, the POTS 2015/16 award wasn't going to be hard to win, with some flashes of quality

His team-mates voted him best player too, two years running. It doesn't matter how **** the season was or how crap everyone else was, in fact it does, it emphasises that Coutinho should be the very last player sold by the club if everybody else is continually performing below his level in the eyes of the fans and 1st team players.Originally posted by redmike65 View PostIt's not been a stellar season! Coutinho is a fans favourite and he scored some lovely goals. I'd have given it to er no one really. Maybe Clyne for being Mr Reliable in a season in which that quality was in short supply. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Coutinho could play some fantastic stuff with better players around him (proved it when played with Sturridge in first season). But how do we get the better players? By selling Coutinho. Its a catch 22.
I agree if we are to sign some really nifty footballs I'd rather see them working with Coutinho than fecking Lallana. But without any good footballers around him Coutinho is rather ineffective barring the odd wonder goal. One tit for another.

In the last 2 seasons Coutinho has played in 61 out of 76 PL games.
We've finished 6th and 8th.
Every season he shows glimpses of genius, he's a very talented footballer but hasn't (as yet) produced when it really matters.
Anonymous in both finals we played, yes I know he scored v Man City but that was practically his only touch of note.
He's hardly irreplaceable.
Personally I'd like to keep him to see if Klopp can transform him into someone who is consistent but if he wants out then it's no big loss.
What we'll have next season is a team that functions greater than the sum of the individuals within it.
If Coutinho can be part of that great, if not then take the money. The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I hope we can keep him even if he is a bit up and down performance wise. He draws so much attention from defenders and capable of that bit of extra every team needs. We're in a position right now where he will be difficult to replace, and we can still build something good with him in the team.
It's also fairly hard to find a creative player willing to pull as much weight as him defensively. I think he is a good player to have - although realistically it will be very hard to keep hold of him if one of the super rich clubs comes around.
If he leaves I at least hope we are better at spending the money than we were with Suarez and Sterling.

It's never a good sign when a team can't hold onto their top players. Every year we lose our best players. Coutinho is hit and miss but he is a match winner and is incredibly talented. I always thought of him replacing Iniesta at Barca in time.
He seems a good guy too, head screwed on. It must be frustrating for him also as he does need better players around him. I won't be surprised if he is sold to PSG, been down this road too many times but it will be another sign of us not being able to hold onto our best. Consistent lack of top flight european football will do that unfortunately.Last edited by danperkins; 03-06-16, 01:40 PM.
