bit of an odd quote by jurgen, especially with the talk he had some influence on transfers before he came

Maybe he thought that Sterling wasn't worth keeping but is staying diplomatic?

As has been said, £72m is taking the ****ing piss in today's market. Wouldn't have sold for that last summer, even without knowing prices would skyrocket.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Getting VVD and Keita would be a massive statement of intent and give him serious food for thought.

Aye. Otherwise it's a bit house of cards.

I said in the Naby Keita thread, as much as I love LFC and quite like FSG as owners, I don’t believe for one second LFC/FSG would spend £170M+ on VVD and NB without cashing in on our main asset. I would of course love to be proven wrong but the realist in me says FSG are and have consistently proven to be more fiscally prudent.

It's a fair point, understandable really given their track record. Time will tell I suppose, I just thought the penny finally dropped this summer and they finally understood what was needed to take us to the next level.

Jurgen making it pretty clear, good stuff. Stays with us and Coutinho is probably looking at a league, CL and World Cup treble this season, joins Spains second best side who are also in decline and he's probably looking at 2nd, CL knockout exit and a world cup.

I think FSG may have learned that to progress they need to dig deeper but in this case ...... My gut feel tells me they LFC/Klopp/FSG were made aware months ago that Phil might fancy Barca and they him. That's when they looked and said, who is out there who could have as big an impact on performances and that's when Keita was tabled (different style I grant you but still potential big impact player). VVD is the accepted needed upgrade due to our inability to clear the 1st ball from set pieces (and the Sakho situation) and so yes, maybe the penny has dropped to some extent that they need to invest more in the squad but that I think is evidenced with the chase for VVD, Keita is an impact replacement for Phil..... Hope I am totally wrong (have been before ) and we see Phil, NK and VVD all at LFC.

I'd like to sniff the same stuff as you.

So the rumour is this morning that Barcelona signing Coutinho was to appease Neymar who is unhappy being the only Brazilian. The wee precious drama queen.

Anyway, Neymar still wants to leave, after stating that to the boss. PSG have met Neymar's release clause though so that'll unravel quickly you'd have thought.

Don't know where that leaves us or the magican. I'd wait though until they've 200m in their sky rocket before anything though.

For me we shouldn't even have to think about anything until they offer over £120m, I'm sorry but we shouldn't even consider negotiating with anyone offering less than that, never mind selling him for less than that, especially when Barcelona look to be getting close to 200m euros for Neymar.

If we are even thinking about selling him for £80m we are idiots.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This is what Barca do, turn players head, low ball offer. Just waiting for several Barca players to start saying how amazing Phil is through the media.

That's not what we do to other teams eh ?

Phil has experience of moving clubs without the grass being greener, so I don't think he will go OTT about forcing a move. Also he's having a team built around him here, that won't happen at Barca. Barca will make a big push because I don't think they have a lot of alternatives to go for in the current market.
