I'm glad he got a warm applause when he came on. The correct and classy way to respond to his shenanigans over the summer.

I think he played **** today though. Half hearted.

I hope it's just lack of match fitness and nervousness about how he would be received but considering he played so well for Brazil I cannot be sure.

The sooner he gets up to speed the better. He was understandably rusty yesterday but it shouldn't be too long till we see the best of him again.

With Dembele out injured for 4 months i wonder if Barca will make an even bigger bid for Couthino in January?

Yes, makes sense giving a lot of money for a CL ineligble player just when Dembele comes back from injury

Makes sense? At Barcelona? Sorry I'm not sure I understand.

The draft contract of employment for the 25-year-old, written on the letter of FC Barcelona, had 20 pages and was dated 31 August, one day before the end of the transfer period. In this paper, Catalan Coutinho offered a guaranteed income of 115 million euros for a five-year contract. His adviser should receive 10 million euros in fee as long as the fixed sum for the player would not be higher than 100 million euros.

In the internal salary of FC Barcelona the brave Brazilian was ranked between the Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez and the Spanish national players Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Andrés Iniesta .

Previously, FC Barcelona had tried in vain to move Liverpool to negotiate a change of midfielder. Liverpool had already rejected a first offer on 20 July. In an email, Sport Director Michael Edwards wrote to Òscar Grau, the Chairman of the Board of Management of FC Barcelona: "Unfortunately, Philippe can not be sold at any price and, as you know, he has recently extended his contract with us."

At the beginning of August, Grau returned to Liverpool with a "significantly improved offer": a fixed detachment sum of 90 million euros and special payments of up to 40 million euros. But Liverpool's sports director Edwards remained hard. "I would kindly ask you to refrain from showing Philippe both privately and publicly," he wrote to Grau, "no sum will lead us to reverse our decision."

Neither the FC Barcelona nor the FC Liverpool spoke of the proceedings on request.

Our Sporting Director gets his kicks from rejecting bids by the sounds of it.
