If he doesn’t get picked on merit, that’s fair enough, but Menezes was criticized for being too defensive so if Lucas loses his place to a more flamboyant midfielder just to keep the fans and/or the president happy then that would be a real shame.

If he gets back to anywhere near the form he was showed pre-injury then he should certainly be in the squad.

I think some people have been a bit overly critical of him recently TBH. I don’t think he’s played as bad as others have made out and the team and in particular Gerrard have improved massively since his return.
