I don't want to sound a sour note and I'm not criticising him at all as (a) he's young and (b) anyone can an off day but what do people think was the reason behind his non-performance against Chelsea?

He had a lot of space yesterday and exploited it brilliantly. Perhaps he had none against Chelsea, I don't know...

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

His vision and passing are incredible for his age but I also love how calm he is when being closed down, always making space for himself to make sure he plays the right pass.

Already as good as Silva and he will only get better.

He could be one of the big stars in the 2014 WC. We will get a problem keeping him when clubs like Real and Barcelona make bids

He needs to do it consistently for a while longer until we can say he's as good as Silva!

            Steady.

He has done well and was exceptional against a very poor Newcastle team who gave him the freedom of St James at times.

Let's see how he does when teams deny him space and get much tighter.

              Obviously less well

Give a player space and he'll do better than if you don't, that's simple really.

However how many times over the past few years have we looked out of ideas going forward against teams that offer you space in this league? He's exactly what we've needed. Another wide player and keeping hold of Suarez could see us rival most teams in the league for a forward line.

So credit to Rodgers for having the balls and foresight to do it. Smart use of Henderson in that nominal left sided position too.
This is so true, also shows he's satisfied that Lucas and the lads behind are now solid enough to do this

My point was more a player like Silva makes space for himself in those situations.

I think against good teams we aren't strong enough defensively to accomodate him in the middle at the minute. I guess the deployment of Henderson wide drifting in helps but not enough for me. Certainly we should be looking to get him more central ultimately.

imagine coutinho threading passes through with the movement of sturridge and suarez

If I ever saw Coutinho in public, I would walk up to him and say "Aright Phil" in a proper northern accent - bit random I know.

                              Right, sorry

He's still just 20 so I don't expect the finished article but he's got plenty of players in this league to look up to and learn from. He will have games like the one against Chelsea because he's still very young and Chelsea are a good side.

Just out of interest I wonder if anyone knows what Silva and Mata were doing at the age of 20?
