some of coutinho's play last year as sublime and we all cooed. most/all people agree he can go on to become a great player, but it really isnt happening for him, and his constant inclusion is detrimental to the overall productivity to our team performance.

i really dont get all the blind man-love for him. we might be a little short on alternatives, but it doesnt mean we cannot state the bleeding obvious

Before the season started I put a couple of quid on him to be PFA player of the year. Sorry.

How old is Coutinho though? Isn't he like 20 or 21? I don't think it should be unexpected that his first full season in England could be difficult for him, teams prepare for him now and know him a bit and he'll have to raise his game. Changes in midfield won't help either, I thought he was good when Lucas, Allen and Henderson formed our midfield. Coutinho still contributes to general play when he's not assisting and such.
          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I've said something similar a few times before, and I really think you can see a difference in how quick our passing, movement and link up is in the final third with/without Coutinho. We are a better team with him atm.

I also believe however that he would have been rested a bit more, and gotten some needed breaks if our squad had been better this year. We still need competition in a few places, and this is one of them.

Realistically a player isn't ready for the first team until around 23. That's what the stats suggest and some will buck the trend and be ready sooner but the majority wont.

Coutinho was sensational in his first six months with us and its normal that he has a dip in form because that's what happens with kids.

What we all know is that when hes playing at his best he is a phenomenal talent. We just need to be patient and not overuse him.

Stepped up a few levels defensively today, and we all know how well he can pass the ball.

He needs to play that central role all the time. He is the focal point of our counter attack.
