He only signed a new 5yr deal a couple of weeks ago FFSOriginally posted by Paddy View PostNever mind Sterlings contract. Tie this lad down even longer.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

He's made a couple of dramatic, technical improvements to his game this season.
Firstly the way he strikes a ball is very different, dare I say Beckhamesque? He's putting a lot of bend and swerve on his shots and his ball striking is consistently great at the moment. A huge improvement from how he used to pull almost every shot wide in previous seasons. Well done to Phil and the coaches for working on that aspect of his game.
Secondly he's learned this new dummy where he just glides past the opposition as if they're not there. There's tons of vines knocking about of him doing it in various matches and he did it several times yesterday to great affect. In fact I'd go as far as to say it's one of the greatest sights in football at the moment.
His ability to shoot from outside the box now makes him such a dangerous player. You simply cannot allow. The ease with which he finds space combined with his shooting ability means he's almost unplayable. All he needs to do is work a tiny bit of space to get a shot away, and the opposition are in trouble! It's something Ronaldo has exploited for years and now Phil is starting to do it.
He's a little genius

I love it when he receives the ball with his back to an opponent - with the opponent right up his arse, so to speak - and every single time he spins and turns away from them as though they're not there. I think he drops a very subtle feint to go one way, then spins the other way and he's off. Made an absolute mug of Fabregas and various others doing it.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yeah that's the move I'm alluding too, and subtle variations of it. It's majestic. You know I might be wrong on this but I honestly think it's something he picked up off Suarez.

I also giggled at this:Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHis outside of the foot through balls are amazing, I laughed out loud at one yesterday.
Looked like his first touch is a tad heavy, but he recovers, then Allen helps him out, then he basically takes the ball off him with a Cruyff turn and looks back with a smile when it's safe againOriginally posted by Mostar View Post

Was in Mcdonalds yesterday and picked up the Sunday Star to read Ronnie Whelan saying that we shouldn't build a team around this lad as he is inconsistent and gives the ball away to much. hmmmmm_____________________________________
Weak willed, Wank or do they have a masterplan?
Think we have the answer..Slot!!

Rodgers didn't see him adding goals to his game & was at pains to say until recently that he'd be a more Luka Modric type player - a link man as you say. But he's now adding goals & assists as well and he's really stepping it up. I agree him & Hendo should notch ten league goals. I'd add Lallana to that list too. Sturridge & Sterling I'd expect more from.

I think Whelan is one of those ex pros that are bitter they missed the money train. He was a very good player but the money just wasn't in football like it is today.Originally posted by red g View PostWas in Mcdonalds yesterday and picked up the Sunday Star to read Ronnie Whelan saying that we shouldn't build a team around this lad as he is inconsistent and gives the ball away to much. hmmmmm
Isn't Whelan a Manchester United fan? As regards Coutinho being inconsistent I would have agreed with Whelan but if anything Coutinho has found that consistency & is starting to dominant games and get an end product. Credit to the lad, he's been outstanding over the last few months.

Don't think I've seen a player so comfortable at beating a man - he does it countless times in a game. It is great to see that his decision making is improving, his understanding with other players, and dare I say it his shooting too.
He also comes across as a good guy too - in stark contrast with Suarez (on the pitch).James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

Got to be in the region of £30m ( but I'd rather keep him than sell)Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostI never mentioned selling him, I asked what people would estimate as his value on the market. Just a bit of friendly bantz.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
