It is a difficult call - he puts in the work but when we don't have a striker he seems to contribute little other than occasional moments of magic. We have few enough goal threats in midfield that he will always deserve a place for that alone but to improve as a team we need more from him (or someone who produces more throughout games).Originally posted by Fredo View PostHe suffers because we don't have movement ahead of him. There were signs he is getting an understanding with Benteke though. When Studge is back (and hopefully he is back for a long time) we will see the best of him."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

His whole thing is about his passing flair ability. No strikers means theres no one there to anticipate the kind of passes he'll do into open areas or the quick one twos. Most of our team dont really have that kind of flair so they cant anticipate it. Some could say Lallana and Firmino do. But Firmino is still getting used to things here and Lallana, at least for me, isnt good enough to be a first team player here.Originally posted by dww View PostIt is a difficult call - he puts in the work but when we don't have a striker he seems to contribute little other than occasional moments of magic. You could see some passes that Coutinho would do into open areas for Origi would go nowhere since Origi wasnt expecting it and just jogged towards it which made Coutinho visibly annoyed. This makes him decide to just try and take the ball in for himself and he's not going to be that successful when theres no one in front pulling other players away. He's our best player. If any of the big spanish teams came in for one of our players, Coutinho would be the only one they'd take. He's absolutely delicious.

So what you're saying is its not an issue with form its that he's **** outside of a narrow set of conditions?
Sick of this wavelength bull****. He needs to get on the right wavelength and stop bloody giving the ball away.
Personally I hope your school of thought is wrong, 'cos if it's right he's a pretty dumb footballer and a very expensive luxury.Last edited by EwarWoo; 02-11-15, 10:58 PM.

Its not a narrow set of conditions. If he sees a good chance for a throughball and does it, and the striker is too stupid to run into that open space and instead just stands there with the defender, who are you going to fault? Midfielders not moving into free areas, being too static, giving him little choice but to try and run it himself, theres no way you can blame him.
Picture a team full of creative players and another full of average intelligence footballers. Which team is going to do amazing 100 pass combos and then score?

Watch when most of the time the ball finds opposition player theres usually a liverpool player near him. One moves for the ball, the other doesnt. You're making it sound like he just passes it at the opposition who is sitting in the middle of an empty field, or directly in front of him. How often did he screw a pass up when he had players like saurez or sterling near him? Not much. Dont excuse the other players.
