I'd want to play for a glamour club like Barcelona or Real Madrid. Plus the weather is better!

It is the ultimate for every young South American to play for either of them, Phil would be no different. His buddies are there, the weather, food, challenge consistently etc etc.

BUT

The club has been making noises about keeping our best players, building a culture of success etc. It will take a big offer + him to ask before he would be sold IMO.

There are some really good youngish players out there waiting to be picked up. Ones that fit Klopp's style to the ground. As much as I love Coutinho, he's not Barca quality, which they will find out in time. In the meantime we need the serious dosh for the above mentioned players.

It could benefit us to be honest, get Keita and another attacking player in. Would be difficult for Firmy but he'll have to manage. I reckon this is the summer, I love Coutinho but if we get top dollar it's not all bad.

I think we need to keep our best players and unless Coutinho asks to go and acts the prick then we should not sell him. I want Phil to play with whoever we sign and build a squad of top players and let them fight it out for the starting 11.

Rakitic is a good player and would improve us but he is 29 now and at the opposite side of his career to Phil, will his legs stand up to the EPL as he gets older? Added to this he will want massive wages which I'm not sure we will pay.

£50m + Rakitic would be tempting but £20m/£30m + Phil would not be enough for me.

Exactly, you know where you end up when you sell your best players... ****ing nowhere.

We've let Sterling, Suarez... and if Coutinho also goes then we're in danger of becoming a selling club ignoring the context of those individual transfers. At some point a stand needs to be taken otherwise our top players will be seen as fair game.

I feel for Rogers in not being able to land Sanchez as he was a tailor made replacement for Suarez albeit not at his level - but it shows how risky transfers are.

We're not replacing Countinho with anyone of his level either. He's been atrocious since coming back from injury but we've seen in the past when the team is firing he's an essential part of that. Even when he was much younger look how he linked up with a fit Sturridge and Suarez... we need to add players to get the best out of him not simply move him on - that'd set us back even further. Especially if we end up with no one and repeat the debacle that was the Balotelli transfer (which i wouldn't expect to but all the same...).

If those statements were made then it was because Saurez had crossed over to being a complete dick. Coutinho is making no such noises and is actually a likeable fella. Even if he wants to leave there will be more decorum.

Saying that I wouldn't be too against Rakitic and say 20-25m. However, apparently, Rakitic loves it in Spain (family, etc) and has no interest in moving to the UK. But that's all hearsay for now.

Not to mention he'll be found out at Barca, they won't build the team around him, he'll struggle there etc.
