Last time we made CL we lost our best player in the summer, I just pray that doesn't happen again. With the team we are building, next season could be one that lives long in the memory, but Coutinho is central to that."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

No, we know what we get with coutinho. The other three are great players or players with huge potential but still they constitute more of a risk.Originally posted by Fierce View PostIf it meant getting Keita, VVD and Aubameyang, would you sell Coutinho?
Phil hasn't even peaked yet and is already world class. It's genuinely possible he becomes the best player in the world one day.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

The issue to consider for me isn't how good he is now or will be, its how successful the team is. Those 3 would make us genuine title contenders
What about a straight swap for Suarez?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

If we signed VVD, Keita and kept Coutinho I would hope we would be genuine title contenders.Originally posted by Fierce View PostThe issue to consider for me isn't how good he is now or will be, its how successful the team is. Those 3 would make us genuine title contenders
What about a straight swap for Suarez?
Suarez is world class so if we swapped Coutinho for Suarez and signed VVD and Keita we would be in a similar position.
But a swap for Suarez is never going to happen, Barcelona are looking to replace Neymar, they aren't going to swap another one of their first choice front 3 to bring in his replacement. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I like Coutinho but he is often inconsistent, he has never had a good full season. No where near the same bracket as Suarez or others. Now whether that is due to England, Injuries youth etc i dont know, but, at 25 i can think of players who have done it more consistently than him.
Whilst i don't think there are many players out there who we can realistically buy to better him i don't think he is world class. Potential to be yes but not at the moment. He is improving every season and I firmly believe he has his best years right in front of him, now is the wrong time to let him go as whoever has him is about to inherit someone hitting their peak.Last edited by Abro100; 23-07-17, 11:49 PM.

Suarez came to us around the same age Coutinho is now. There were a few fans that criticised his finishing in his first season with us.Originally posted by Abro100 View PostI like Coutinho but he is often inconsistent, he has never had a good full season. I think the above should give you an impression of the trajectories of thier careers, with the caveat that players progress at different rates. Still we'd be mad to sell him. He's approaching world class FFS.
