The Coutinho and VVD sagas will tell us a lot about FSG and their ambitions.
Keep Phil and sign VVD then we could have a great season.
Sell Phil and miss out on VVD and the fans will turn on them and maybe even Jurgen will start to consider his future. All this talk about biggest spend ever and war chests etc is looking like a load of bollox and if we sell Phil then it will show where their priorities lie. Baby Keith wasn't allowed to leave and we supposedly offered close on £70m - Learn lessons from RBL's stance on selling their best player!

papers tomorrow are reporting that no chance of a Coutinho move according to Mark Langdon seems to be quite clued up when it comes to football knowledge heard it just now on Talksport._____________________________________

It never ceases to amaze me, that fans today are so quick to frame the blame on football club owners.
The money for a huge outlay is clearly there, hence the Keita bids, salah also coming in for a significant fee. It is a footballing decision however that the club has not moved on to any alternative targets after VVD and Keita.
I don't think VVD will come nor that Coutinho will leave. FSG refused to sell Suarez to Arsenal, Rodgers made a deal with him for one more year and then he left. I think that will probably happen. One more year with Coutinho, gives the club a year to think about how his loss can be minimised.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

The keita bid was not all up front. A few whispers that this ultimately made RB Leipzigs mind up.Originally posted by Corndog View PostIt never ceases to amaze me, that fans today are so quick to frame the blame on football club owners.

Like most deals in football then. And when you say whispers I assume you're talking about the ever reliable Twitter.
Simple fact is we clearly have tried to spend good (insane) money on the right players however the selling club in Keitas situation have flat refused to deal, something we should be looking to do with Coutinho this Summer

This wasn't like most deal in football though, was it? It was the major asset from an aspiring CL club. Low-balling was not the way here. 3 bids? Just go in with the highest bid first, imo.Originally posted by RichC View PostLike most deals in football then. And when you say whispers I assume you're talking about the ever reliable Twitter.

Anyway, the point was that it's easy to think 70mil for VVD and 70mil for Keita means that we were willing to spend £140m but the fact of thee matter is that it's closer to £80m.
So yeah, £130m is a heck of a lot of money for this club but, as most have said, this particular saga transcends above any cash value and it would be ultimately very disappointing if we do sell.

I hope we haven't persued unassailable targets safe in the knowledge that the deals wouldn't go throughOriginally posted by RichC View PostLike most deals in football then. And when you say whispers I assume you're talking about the ever reliable Twitter.

It's not low balling, we go in with £75M first offer they reject it as we've pushed the opening price up and yes it's exactly the same as any other deal, you go in trying to get the best deal deal for your business as is the case as in all walks of life.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostThis wasn't like most deal in football though, was it? Most deals are spread over the course of a deal there are a few out there that have done up front but they're the exception to the rule not the norm.
