    Snap.

That's all I've aimed for the last couple of years - top six, trim the fat from the squad, get the money under control and then start pushing for top four with a younger squad.

We've made good progress there with the sales of Joe Cole and Charlie Adam.

I don't think we're good enough for Top 4 yet and never really expected us to be either. Would be good to get there but I'm not sure we will. As long as there is progress (rid of dross, promising players coming in, better attacking play, more points) then I'm happy

Cole was the butt (pun intended) of that comment for sure - both body-fat and wages-fat.

Nice to be out of that horrendous situation of having expensive squad players who offer little but take so much. Don't have a problem with us paying high wages to people who play because even without the Champion's League we can still afford it. Problem is that we can't add anymore onto that without that extra revenue.

We're definitely on the right path but I still think we're looking at two more years minimum before we could realistically challenge for the top four. I'd say over the summer we'd be looking to add 2/3 more players to the squad and avoid January as much as possible, obviously injuries permitting, etc... anyone who leaves needs to be replaced of course.

Rodgers has stated several times that they're looking to improve over the next half dozen windows rather than buy lots of players in one go and have to integrate them all. To me that's financially smart and also more fair on the players - easier to bring a couple of new people in that, as Newcastle have done, buy half a new team and throw them all in.

Do you think he will get two years though? That is a long time in football nowadays. Personally, I think he should. It isn't just about getting in the Top 4, but you need to have the personnel to be able to stay there and compete in the Champions League

Think there is such a thing where you can get into it too soon too

I saw empire of the kop post something on twitter about Kompany being out. Anyone read it?

I thought he was confirmed out injured.

Oh excellent, I thought he was but someone posted earlier saying city were hoping he would be fit. Without him their defense is nowhere near as strong on paper

They are without Kompany, Kolo Toure, Maicon, Richards and Yaya Toure yet they still have a ridiculously strong squad

Their midfield isn't very mobile. I think we could find loads of space and time against them with gerrard and henderson.

England international, James Milner to provide the threat with ****house Nasri and a summer-lov'n Silva, they're there for the taking!

                            So something like

                            Hart

                            Zabaleta
                            Nastasic
                            Lescott
                            Clichy

                            Milner
                            Garcia
                            Barry
                            Silva

                            Augero
                            Tevez

How do they line up at the moment? Is it Barry, Nasir, silva, Milner, aguero and dzeko, with silva operating out of the middle and Milner the right?

I think he'll get it providing that we continue to develop into his system and at least have visible improvements in performances even if results continue to be hit and miss.

Fact is - we have to give SOMEONE a minimum of three years to sort us out, we're in such a state (or at least we were) thanks to years of financial mismanagement that it was always going to take more than one season to rectify. If we won't give Rodgers time - who will we?

Sadly a lot of this hinges on a vocal minority of our fanbase who are, in short, morons. We don't "deserve" to be in the Champion's League - we are where we deserve to be right now - we certainly aspire to get back into the top four and I think Brendog will get us there.
