Sides like Spurs and to an extent Arsenal only need to lose one key player to weaken dramatically (like us when Xabi left)

5th would be (A) an improvement and (B) the level that we're actually at, if we were to crash the top four this season I fear it'd be too much - we look weak when really pressed by some poor teams, let alone if we were to get a tough European group. Teams would take us apart so another year or two of rebuilding the squad is essential before I think we're truly ready for the challenge.

Obtaining 5th spot would be a fantastic achievement considering. I doubt we'll get it, although beating Spurs would help change my mind.
