We couldn't match Southampton's intensity today. We were probably complacent after beating Spurs, but Soton always going to raise their game for us and improve on their QPR performance. The early goal was huge for Soton and that got the fans behind them. We gave the ball away very cheaply and they were moving very well and creating chances from our misplaced passes. I feared the worst when I saw the line-up, in hindsight we should have gone with 3 midfielders as I felt we struggled in midfield. We struggled in the final third when Suarez wasnt at his best. Downing was very poor. The only positive was Coutinho got another goal. We'll probably bounce back again as we usually do but it's probably too late for a top 4 finish now. We don't have the mental toughness and consistency to win 8/8.

Still I will never understand his decision to start the injured Joe Allen ahead of Lucas or Henderson - and then he says that he knew it was going to be one of our toughest matches of the season!! Explain that. I don't wanna go into the whole debate whether we're better off with 3 central midfielders than 2, that's his tactics, but that player selection makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not basing it on todays game. He has not been up to the job all season and should never had been bought. He has no strength, vision or ability to play in the middle of a liverpool midfield. I don't blame him as he is trying his best but he is not what we need imo. If we get a £10m offer in the summer we should take it as soon as possible. I wasn't impressed with him a at swansea or in the GB team before we signed him.

We need a strong midfield player and some new SB's Skrtel was ****ing awful today and just let the southampton player walk past him for the 3rd goal. I'd rather wisdom play CB than him from now on.

Its just bizarre to me how Henderson has fallen out of favour again, Southampton were always going to press us so if Lucas wasnt 100% it made sense to go with Henderson for his energy and fitness.
I rate Allen, he's obviously struggling but i think he'll be much better next season with a summer off and full pre season.

He was at fault for the 3rd goal, shouldn't have showed a left footed player both onto the goal and onto his stronger foot.
