Hate to say but in games like this I wonder if throwing on a player like AC would have been a decent plan B for us this season.

Couldn't have done much worse than the others and it would allow the wingers and full backs the option of putting the ball in the box rather than trying to be too intricate on the edge of the box all the time.

I certainly agree with the point we do need a plan B, it was fairly obvious quite early on in the second half that our plan A was struggling to have an impact and we needed to try something different. I was thinking similar things particularly when we were sticking high balls into the box at the end, what would happen if Carroll had been available to us. Ultimately I don't know if Carroll is/should be the plan B but I don't think we have one at the moment all our attacking options are similar in style I think something different is certainly needed, very few teams have just one type of forward and very few clubs have so few striking options that they can't bring another striker on late in games - admittedly we used our substitute striker Sturridge early but we are still short of strikers.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Not having a moan or nowt but what exactly do they do in training all week!? It's not as if they've had other competitions to play in. Really need to focus on finishing skills, maintaining possession, gaining possession quicker, long range shooting, corner kick routines! Plenty of time during the week to spend on intensive fine tuning!!

It's a fair point, but I'd rather buy a cheaper option that can do a similar job and flog Carroll*

*If we choose that as a plan B next season

Keep him for next season as our plan b. we had crosses coming in to the box & nobody was in that central position apart from their defenders! AC at least would give them something else to think about & may even get a knock down to a team mate...if we're super lucky he might even put one in himself :P

we should never have loaned out Ngoo. It would have been a much better option to have him on the bench instead of Assaidi.

I don't think Ngoo would have been near the first team if he wasn't out on loan, he's getting experience at the moment but I don't think he will be ready to challenge for a place here next season, IMO he will have to go out on loan and play regularly again before that happens.

I don't understand why Assaidi was involved today

Ngoo is at a league 1 standard club, Assaidi was playing in the Dutch league last season.

A problem is of course that we have a manager that clearly already showed that a big strong player upfront isn't an option even if we need one.

We must at least have that option on the bench. IMO it is stupid not to have it. If we don't have it then we are to easy to figure out.

                            We aren't Barcelona FFS.

He would still been a better option than Assaidi in many games because of the many crosses we make.

Assaidi is clearly the better player but not in the box.
