We're not too much worse or better than what we were the last few seasons but our key players are a bit older.

Honestly think inconsistency is a trait in most early reigns of a new manager. I think we need a tougher tackling midfielder though but we've been a lot more solid defensively of late from open play
Thats my point, and Cases you only want possession to score goals

Having possession for possessions sake is meaningless

Those stats show that whilst we follow our managers ideas and have tons of possession in games, it is often absolutely no advantage in terms of result

Strong / tough tackling defensive midfielder and at least one centrehalf is an absolute must I agree but putting them into a cohesive unit that wins possession is just as important

Who knows really mate? I'd rather we didn't put a timescale on it either.

I think as long as we're making progress then we should stick by him. After the H&G, Kenny and Hodgson debacle (and Rafa's last season) we have a lot of work to do.

Our rivals have strengthened over the last five years whereas we've only given Rodgers two transfer windows so far.

It's too early to say, but barring any major ****ups we need to give him at least three seasons.

Yeah, we seem to be reminded of that on the occassions when we don't win a match

They're going to bring in young players who by nature won't click straight away. If fans cant accept that then as a club we're in trouble too
How many years did Rodgers sign on for??

          3??

He'll get next season imo, and if things aren't improving he'll come under pressure

I guess I appear pretty sad then . However if say,we have the same type of season next year as this miserable one, do you think he should be given another year or 2. I have to admit that some football has been good, some has been terrible.

Yes it will take more than 2 years to win the EPL, but we cannot keep giving him more and more time. So another season is a must and longer assuming that there is a significant improvment. And when I say significant I mean get close to a trophy and at least be in with a shout for top 4 come March.
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

I'm sure Rodgers grasps that too. His idea isn't just to have possession for possessions sake. But implementing the philosophy takes longer than a few months. You've got to bring in the players, get the existing ones to function to that as well. All of that takes time and will be ups and downs along the way.

I was away from the site, and the country on business for much of February and early March so didnt comment either way apart from congratulating Brendan on the results when I returned

It's a myth that we pass the ball for the sake of it. We create but we lack a cutting edge and at times it's down to poor decision making.

Ah, so you missed the good results and good performances. I can undertand why you are so concerned then. Trust me, we haven't been that bad at all

                      I'm not convinced he does

I watched the matches thank you very much

                        I'd rather trust myself thanks

We won he got good results but imo the problems were still lurking beneath the surface just papered over by attacking play and good finishing

So you honestly believe he just tells his players in training "look, just keep the ball, don't worry about anything else. Pass it round the back to each other and the goals will come". Coutinho said in his interview that the idea is for quick, high tempo, incisive passing without dwelling on the ball too long. It takes time. Sorry Lec, but you just come across a total downer on Rodgers and I don't honestly believe that you can take that kind of view seriously

Can we see stats to prove this?

You've been unlucky with all these business trips then. You seem to only be in the country and able to post instantly when we have an iffy result. That's some pretty bad luck

We don't deal well with counter attacks. We haven't got that balance right. And the defending is a bit weird. We don't play the offside trap at all. But I guess that'll be redressed at some stage.
