      I'm fairly sure FSG did neither budget for nor expect Rodgers to finish fourth this season.

        Agreed, I wonder if they budgeted based on qualifying for the Europa League though

        I know the money earned in the Europa League isnt anywhere near as much as the Champions League but a half decent run could get you in circa €7-10 million which frankly I'm not sure we can turn our nose up to at this present time

        Not that it will make a difference to FSG's perception of Rodgers but in terms of finances even to lose out on a potential €7-10 million would be a bit of a blow to us

          Of course they didn't. I only said that money and points is more important for FSG than playing good football.

          They can't afford to think in another way.

          If we played like Stoke and finished fourth then they would most probably be very very happy.

              see - in a backwards kind of way this what frustrates me the most

              on the whole this season i have found us more enjoyable to watch and we have played some great football

              but the results have been mainly ****e!

              i look at the team, the starting XI at least, and think how the **** have we drawn/lost so many matches to ****e teams

              i appreciate that we aren't going to play like barcelona every week

              what has frustrated me tho is i can say the below about 75% of results this season

              "typical performance, loads of possession, loads of chances, indvidual error or two or a bad refeering decision, heads dropped, got out fought - draw/loss"

              it's that we haven't seem to have identified or learned from our issues, and don't seem to be able to change it.


              You can almost watch liverpool and within the first 5 mins of the game predict the result.

                If our manager make us play fantastic attacking football and we finish say 12 points behind fourth place then the manager will be in trouble and may be sacked.

                If we play boring football and finish in fourth then there is almost no chance that he will be sacked.

                last year: regression
                this year: growth

                we are getting better. not worse. it's a process which is still happening. we don't win every match, but we just about look like we could. i'm quite satisfied that there is improvement on view.

                  Also, it should be pointed out that we had a shocking start to the season. No wins in 5 (2 points from 15) ? I think alot of that had to do with new philosophy and style. It's been catch up since then.

                  I'm pretty optimistic on the whole but the most disappointing thing (again!) about this season is not being able to go on a run in the league. It seems like the players need grounding after a few wins as well as the fans.

                    We should have kept Dalglish on for the first dozen or so games to get a few points as he did last season, and then got Rodgers in around November.
