I thought we needed to buy another striker even before the bite incident, now I'm sure that we do, our strike options IMO aren't quite good enough for a team with CL aspirations.
Some people suggested Benteke, I'd be OK with that, I remember we were linked with Wilfried Bony who's meant to be quality not too long ago, has anyone on here seen him play ?

well - it's difficult - i'll be honest - i thought when we sold torres we'd be ****ed and had no idea who we could get to replace him and although i was 'pleased' about spending the money on suarez, i didn't know much about him and had no idea if was going to be a flop or be be class.
so there will be life after suarez!
my major worries are, this continuing decline i feel we are in! - we don't have the billions of man city to go overboard and attract the worlds best with silly bids, and we don't have the european football on offer.
What we have to hope for is
1) the owners back rodgers and give us some decent cash to spend - say £20m plus player sales (say £20m (maybe more) moving on carroll and the rest and £40m suarez) - that could be a total of £80m + to spend on 6 players
2) we do some world class scouting and find some gems - there must be some out there, off the radar - celtic plucked that viktor wanyama from nowhere for about £1m and he looks a beast.
3) we need a bit of luck! as well as top notch scouting - until a player actually signs and starts playing there is no telling how good he is going to be - so we defo need something positive to go our way
4) with regards to attracting top players i think we can still just about attract some - i think what we have to hope for is
- they see the benefits of playing for liverpool - in recent years both Torres and Suarez have enhanced their reputation around the globe footballing wise, during their time at anfield - what we need to do is find a top class player in a smaller club, who feels that a move to liverpool (guarenteed first team football, great support) is more benefical to him than signing for £££'s and to be a squad player
so whilst i'd much rather suarez stayed and we added 4 or 5 top players - if he does go, whilst it will be dissapointing - it won't be the end of the world - it will just mean we are going to need a hell of a lot good scouting and luck to move on

i agree with this
even if suarez stays we defo need another striking/attacking option - especially as borini has really struggled to settle and offer anything (even giving him some benefit of doubt due to his injuries)
we need something a little different to what is currently here - some strong/pacy who gets in the box and scores goals of his arse/knee etc
if we had
suarez
coutinho
sturridge
new guy
downing
sterling
to choose from for our front free we'd be in a much better positioni own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

PTP - When was the last time we benefited from selling our best players ?
Xabi
Masch
Torres
Meireles
All left and weren't replaced properly, I mean Xabi left 4 years ago and we still haven't recovered FFS. Luis going could potentially be even more damaging, we need to hold on to him no matter what.

It's not rocket science fella. You pick 11 others playersOriginally posted by BrooklynRed View PostMy thoughts:
Daniel Sturridge, time to be the man. Borini, once healthy, needs to improve his game dramatically.
Philippe Coutinho moves into the hole.
We need to buy a true winger (Mkhitaryan), a CB (Williams) and another playmaking midfielder (Eriksen).
I expect, in 11 more domestic matches, for Luis to come on the pitch like the fresh man in a pro wrestling tag team match, absolutely on fire with a mission to destroy English football forever. He'll have my full support until the day I die. No one has been more hard done by in terms of injustice in the English league than he has, and I hope he ****ing kills it.

i'm not saying we should sell him - i don't want him to go at all - just saying that, whilst it will be tough without him it certainly won't be the end of the world eitherOriginally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View PostPTP - When was the last time we benefited from selling our best players ?

and for the sake of the debate
whilst i couldn't agree more regarding Alonso and Mascherano - we have never got our midfield together since - the other two i'll disagree with
whilst initially i believe it was the intention to have torres and suarez (which would have been mouth watering) - in hindsight Suarez ultimatley replaced Torres - we got £50m for torres and he's been mediocre for chelsea, where as suarez has been electric for liverpool - so arguably selling torres and signing suarez worked out better for us
Merieles, really! -
- personally i thought he was ****e
- ok maybe harsh - he's not ****, but i really don't think it effected us him leaving when he did - he was never a massiveley important player in my eyes and was a bit of a fanny, he wouldn't be the answer to our current midfield woes

1) We replaced Torres with Carroll not Suarez, that was another disaster because even though FT was on the decline when we sold him he was still in a different class to Andy ****ing Carroll.Originally posted by PTP View Postwhilst initially i believe it was the intention to have torres and suarez (which would have been mouth watering) - in hindsight Suarez ultimatley replaced Torres - we got £50m for torres and he's been mediocre for chelsea, where as suarez has been electric for liverpool - so arguably selling torres and signing suarez worked out better for us

2) Meireles being forced out over wages and replacing him with Henderson and Adam was another idiotic mistake, whatever your opinion of Raul I think we were fortunate to have a player of his quality considering our lack of CL football.

Well, I think that the biggest mistake we did was to get rid of Kuyt. We miss his defensive all over the pitch work.Originally posted by ~LFCHistory~ View Post1) We replaced Torres with Carroll not Suarez, that was another disaster because even though FT was on the decline when we sold him he was still in a different class to Andy ****ing Carroll.

He helped out in defense, midfield and attack almost at the same time.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

If West Ham don't sign Carroll we should use him and push Stevie further up field and partner him with Mkhitaryan. That way, we've got an aerial threat up top, Coutinho and Downing down the wing and two attacking mids feeding the ball through the middle.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostKeep Carroll until near the end of the window so he can potentially play a few games for us before selling him just before the window shuts and Luis returns from his suspension?
