Coates hasn't really been given much of an opportunity to adjust to the pace of the game here, there's no point writing him off when he's only played once in the last 5 months. A loan at lower table Premier League team would allow us to have a look and if at the end of the loan he's still not living up to his promise, I agree we should then look to sell.

Shelvey again, he looked great towards the end of last season and the beginning of this, then he had that red against United and it seems to have set him back a lot. He's definitely got the tools to be an excellent player for us IMO.

Borini, is 10m really that much to spend for a backup striker? I don't actually think so. We've been crying out for squad depth for years, we now have this up front and people are looking for us to sell? Madness IMO.

Agree with the last two definitely. Less certain about Coates - I think he's got talent but I can't see a team in the PL that would take a chance on him and has the coaches that would develop him. We will need to make some hard decisions in order to improve the team/squad and if we get a decent offer and Rodgers doesn't think he can develop him for our first team then I think selling him is the right choice.

I agree. I think Coates will do better elsewhere, unless we need to keep him to keep Luis happy.

Re Coates bizarrely Cardiff or Hull might be ok for him, both will struggle (i.e he'll have a lot to do) and they both have centre backs as managers.

Skrtel was ill and Coates looked off the pace - which was an absolute guarantee since it was his first game for five months and had hardly played at all before that either.

Coates and Shelvey could benefit from a season on loan. I also think Borini has shown enough in the last couple of games that he's capable of doing a job from the bench.

Both are too young to give up on them + we won't get much for them as they played very little especially Coates.

Personally I'd send them both on a season loan too, let them play regular football and then re-evaluate.

I should hope so too. It's been building up at away games this season and was intolerable at Reading. It was always going to be tumultuous given the events of the preceding week, but I personally feel the club should be doing more to eradicate it. Given our past experiences we, more than most, should be mindful of the safety of the crowd as well as the perception of our fans. It's frankly embarrassing and painfully hypocritical. At Reading it was dressed up as a justice for the 96/Maggie stance but I strongly suspect that all those effected by Hillsborough and those who have fought so hard for justice would be ashamed of their behaviour. Rightly so, all travelling fans were treated with contempt and suspicion (literally all of us were photographed or videoed by the evidence gathering Police teams). For the first time in years I have genuinely felt scared at away games this season. To really add to the ridiculousness of it all, the explosions distract the players so I really don't get what they hope to achieve.

Just before kick off at Fulham a small fire started and the pitch was scorched (thats what the brown marks just in the penalty area were). There were young kids near me who were genuinely scared. In fairness to the Fulham staff they bravely entered the main throng at half time and pulled a few of them out but I dread to think that this will be applauded, let alone condoned, before the club take some responsibility in sorting it out. Best fans in the world? Not if this lot have their way.
