Never ever ?? Really. I know it's all about opinion, but I can't agree.

I think most people would agree that something had to happen regarding the keeper situation, which has more or less being ingrained in the side over the last few seasons, but Reina was an absolute quality fixture in our side for a number of seasons from the first moment he joined, and more to the point, he earned his reputation over that period.
Mig has a long way to go, and I've no doubt that everyone would love for him to succeed and surpass Reina's best form for us, but surely it's way, way to early to make sweeping statements, good or bad.

Reina at his best was a very good keeper and it is too early to state that Mignolet now is better than Pepe was in his prime. However I still stand by what I said earlier - When I see Mignolet's name on the team sheet before a game it makes me feel confident, I never, ever got that same feeling with Reina.
Obviously that's just a feeling/emotion and it could be misplaced confidence but so far I think it's been justified.

Yes, I shared that dread having a keeper that won 3 or 4 consecutive golden gloves, conceded less goals per game than any other keeper in our history (in his prime), broke the record for consecutive Premier League clean sheets (6) and consecutive clean sheets (11) and broke the club record for clean sheets after 50 games. I'm surprised we kept him as long as we did.

Reina was superb under Rafa's management but went downhill after he left.

During Pepe's best years Agger was always injured, Skrtel arrived in 2008 and was primarily a squad player, a prime Carragher and the 'aging' Hyypia were the CB pairing that played in front of Pepe the most.
Whatever, he's gone now, doesn't really matter now how brilliant you thought he was/is.

Agger was a regular one season. Wow. And how many of those 20 games did Skrtel start ?

Between 2005 when Pepe arrived and 2009 Hyypia made 154 appearances and Agger 79 so while Sami and Pepe were both at the club it looks like Carragher and Hyypia were the primary CB pairing.

But as said before the timing and reasoning behind the mignolet move was spot on

Mignolet is a great keeper some of his saves have been fantastic

Can't kick the ****ing ball like but that will come and I'd suspect he still has a few nerves which hinder his kicking

no he was crap at Sunderland to for that I said how good he was when we were linked but did say his footwaork leaves a lot to be desired.....But it is getting better, it was terrible when he first moved there!

No you're completely wrong, all Pepe's clean sheets were down to Agger and especially Skrtel even before he joined the club.

first and foremost the goal keeper needs to stop the ball going in the net.
whether he can throw the ball to the half way line, slide tackle an attacker outside the box, play like a sweeper or do 50+ keepy uppies with a tennis ball is not as essential.
