The graphic on BT showing Vardy's recent penalties. All of them straight. Mig probably aware of his habits and it worked a treat

It was good save.Originally posted by Kenneth View Post"Punch the ball across the box for their second"
That's bull****, it was a quality save.
But he's a major part of the defensive issue which seems to be a total lack of confidence.
We are an incredibly frustrating team to support at the moment. Full of expectation due to our attacking players. Terribly let down at the other end.
There must be better options than Mig and Karius out there,

It'll be deliberate. Every single lb of every player is tracked. If he's bulked up, he'll have been asked to.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostMig looks a lot leaner and taller in these first pens.

They deffo did under Rafa as he mentions it in his book- so i would be surprised if it wasn't the same now.Originally posted by Charly View PostYou would expect our coaching staff have dossiers if opposition penalty takers for all of our keepers.
Not to take anything away from Mig. Perhaps we should save him for the cups.
For anybody interested, Rafa said they split the goals into 6 sections (top left, top mid, top right and same for the bottom) and for each match, they plot where the penalty taker has put each one- so if they usually go top right, they'd gamble and dive for the top right as its struckOriginally posted by fah-qDidn't someone once see Philip Schofield ****ting into a crisp packet?

The goalkeeping coach, Xavi Valero was in charge of this. He also mentioned knowing each players 'favoured' and 'second favoured' type of penalty. The database that they had was very detailed. I vaguely remember Rafa discussing this in relation to Reina saving a penalty against Standard Liege in a CL qualifying match. If memory serves me right Mbokani, who was new to European football took the penalty and there was some quote crediting the scouting system for helping Reina.Originally posted by meffin View PostThey deffo did under Rafa as he mentions it in his book- so i would be surprised if it wasn't the same now.

Torres also claimed that Valero briefed him on opposition keepers strengths and weaknesses prior to games which helped him in choosing where and which type of shooting to employ within games. Pretty crazy to think about.
EDIT: My mistake, just looked it up. It was Dante that took the pen, not Mbokani. So slightly less impressive as he's been in Europe for practically the duration of his career but still demonstrates the system.Last edited by Zapater; 26-09-17, 11:59 AM.

Time to see this guy jettisoned permanently now, just too many errors from him on a consistent basis; sort of reminds me of David James can pull out some great saves and then does something complexity brain dead.
He's certainly not the only one I'd be changing at the back and it's not all on him but for me he's a symptom of our problems at the back

He definitely seems to know where Vardy was going to hit it, definitely had done his homework.
