Yeah he's having a good game. Some terrible finishing though from the Mancs

He is redefining the role of a goalkeeper.

Don't think he is. He is just showing the difference between a keeper who is world class in every aspect of goalkeeping and the rest out there.

Be interesting to see if any of the top young keepers who look to be strong in all the keeping departments go on to reach the level that Neuer is at now.

Guys like Courtois, Leno, and ter Stegen.

Brendan Rodgers warns Simon Mignolet he must handle pressure of being Liverpool's No 1 as under-fire keeper makes return

‘Like everyone, Simon has had a wee bit of flak. But to operate at this level, you have to be able to deal with that,’ said Rodgers.

‘He came on against Burnley and had a couple of edgy moments, and he will recognise that. But it will help his confidence to keep a clean sheet. That is what he wants as a goalkeeper and what we want as a team.

‘This is an opportunity for Simon to prove his worth.’

He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

Yeah, that'll suddenly get him to stop playing like ****. Good ol rodgers.

What do you want him to say ? " that was brilliant" or "that was ****" he's trying to encourage him to step up a level FFS.

He needs to say whatever Rafa. would say. If he can say it wearing a Rafa. costume it would be better. Best of all though would be to be Rafa.

I expect him to not even have to be in this position. Should of bought a keeper long ago. Lord knows we werent half trying. It really doesnt matter what he says here because the end product will be the same. He should just say no comment and leave it at that.

Yup sounds sensible say nothing which will be taken as he's no confidence in the keeper and doesn't think he's up to it. You can't just say nothing with the British press.

There are many times when the manager doesnt say anything and prefers to keep things internal. Its no different when they ask if you're going to sign this player or sell that player. Manager says the barest minimum. All season and some of last, almost every poor performance or sub standard one hes replied to questions along the lines of how hes trying hard, he knows he made some mistakes, this will help his confidence, etcetc. Its all the same stuff being said and none of it has been working. It's almost like Mingolet can keep screwing up but its ok because he'll get a pat on the shoulder after and a little friendly word to try a little harder next time. At least thats the impression I'm getting.

Theres usually 2 ways to get someone to improve their performance. Be nice, be their friend, talk them up, etc. Thats not worked. So may as well tell him he's out if he doesnt sort himself and improve. Sometimes a kick up the arse is the best approach. I'm pretty sure that would of been the same way Paisley and Shankly spoke to players. None of this hold their hand rubbish. If they want to be able to afford their 27th tattoo they should try and earn their spot.

Read what he's supposedly said again. He's said he's been given some stick but needs to deal with it - seems fair enough. He's said he's had some dodgy moments - true and only an imbecile wouldn't see he had some slightly worrying moments; the pass back he let run out for a GK is my personal highlight. He's also said a clean sheet is something he can take confidence from - seems fair enough you'd think most keepers use this as a benchmark of performance as well there job is to keep the goals out.

So in reality all he's actually said is how it is - performance was ok, few dodgy moments but take confidence from the clean sheet, looking at it like that I've absolutely no idea what you expect him to say when asked by the press about Mignolets performance, perhaps "I've nothing to say about it, we want to keep it internal" that would offer loads of encouragment and fill Mig with confidence coming into the Swansea game.

Thats all well and good but its still extremely soft after the amount of poor performances. He should go along the lines of saying that january is just around the corner. If he wants to stay here he needs to lift his game otherwise he'll be replaced. Thats more then fair if you ask me. Put the fear of god into him. Otherwise I see next game to be no different to previous games. He'll just flounder.

Aye, that's just what you want, a keeper living in fear, knowing that his manager is just waiting for the next mistake...or,you give him a nice bit of encouragement, even if you do have plans to get rid, knowing that a keeper who has a bit of self belief restored will do a better job for the team than one who is worried that his next mistake will be his last.

He's just dropped him for crying out loud. Jeez.
