So far Mignolet looks a good signing. He have arguably saved us 4 points already, with the peno save and follow up as well as the cracking save towards the end when Benteke fired. I know it's his job, but just very nice to see he is up for it from day 1.

Two clean sheets is very encouraging and especially because he actually have had quite a bit to do in the games.

Nice to have a goalie who actually makes saves.

It was a good save BUT it was only about 10 inches to his left. If Benteke had gone for the other post, he would have had no chance saving it

He did go for the other post I think, it deflected off our player

I still think that would have been past Reina before he had chance to react

Huh? It was a clean hit to the near post. Toure only got near Benteke once the ball had already bit and had gone passed

We once had a fanstastic shot stopper. He had one major flaw in that he flapped at crosses and he more or less prevented us from winning the title: his name was David James and he was eventually sold for this reason. To me, there is a massive similarity between David James and Mignolet. The Jesus like status Mignolet has acheieved is very premature. His inability to command the box on crosses will cost us points unless it improves. Reina really was not that bad a keeper. In fact from January onwards, he did very well. People really have weak memories.

There's no chance he could have gone for the other side of the goal. Toure was too close.

I beg to differ but it's a pointless debate! It was a decent save but one I'd expect any keeper to make

David James had his head in the clouds. Nothing to do with purely his ability to come from crosses.

Yeah it was a decent save (not a wonder save) but I totally disagree about being able to go for the far post.

Was a top quality save. He made one in the Stoke game as well as the penalty. He is a top class shot stopper, yes his kicking leaves a lot to be desired, but a GK needs to be able to save shots first

He's flapped at crosses yes. Probably needs to command the area a bit more, but he's still a very young keeper. 2-3 years of Premiership experience only. He'll get better. It's refreshing to finally have a keeper who you have confidence in that will be able to stop a shot. Bar the 2nd half of the season last season, I've not had that confidence in Reina for about 2-3 years. His shot stopping was poor, as was his command of the area.

                                totally agree

You'd think some of these incredible saves from last season would have lingered a bit longer in peoples memories :

The video also highlights another of Reina's strong points which hasn't really been talked about - how quick he was off his line to stop an attacker before he got in a scoring position (Aguero aside )
