Watching the Spurs game, John Ruddy looked pretty good but that's on the basis of a single match. Made plenty of good decisions and blocked some shots too.

If Rodgers isn't already on the look out for a keeper I hope he is as we speak. Sorry, but we seriously need a top class keeper that can challenge Mignolet. He also has to be more than a great shot stopper. I haven't felt this nervous when we concede set pieces since James. The man has a serious phobia of coming off is line.

Made a few errors himself though.Hard to know for sure but I'm not convinced by him.As Shaggy said is he causing panic in the defence or are the defence causing panic in him?
Most members of our defence have made goal losing errors so far this season and Mig has done it at least the same number of times as Kolo yet only Kolo is slated.
All that said I'd give him another season hopefully behind a much improved and settled back 4 to show his worth, but like I said a few weeks back, jury very much still out for me and we should be looking for someone else to push him all the way for the shirt.

Think he lacks composure and isn't brave enough to command his defence. His pass led to Toure's mistake against West Brom, and a few times he just picks up the wrong pass or panics and launches the ball upfield, which leads us to lose possession etc ... Maybe the defence are reluctant to pass to him or don't trust him on crosses, therefore are inclined to make more mistakes.
I don't think he's good enough personally.Are we winning?

I think it's a bit of both, I think we'd be much better with a settled back four, the CBs have mad,e a lot of individual errors but I think Mignolet needs to be more commanding of his area, when the ball is crossed into the six yard box your keeper should be claiming that, he should also be claiming stuff in the 6 yard box rather than leaving stuff for the defenders to deal with while facing their own goal.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI don't know whether it's Mignolet suffering because of an unsettled back line or whether Mignolet's indecision and near total absence of any bravery whatsoever is making the defenders twitchy. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he is showing signs of nervousness but the weaknesses he has can be worked upon - for example being more commanding of his 6 yard box is something that can be worked on and could be improved. Not saying that he'll definitely turn into Reina level commanding but he's young and the potential is there for development.
Also there's the first year at a big club and unsettled back four and all that entails.

I think the fact he is rooted to the line is playing a major part in these defensive woes I think he really needs to be more commanding in the sixth yard box"All I'll ever do is all I've ever done in any job, and that's promise to fight for my life for the supporters and the people of the city"

Mignolet is a fine keeper IMO, and I would be very hesitant to replace a keeper because of a few shakeups in his first 7-8 monthes here. Not even completed a season yet! Young and getting used to a new backline and playing style.
He has all the necessary qualities, he just needs to build a bit more on top. That and he really needs to getty a steady defence in front of him. It's been in and out with the back 5 this season, added on top to some changes in personel.
Give the lad time and he will come good, I'm certain. Already saved us quite a few points this season, especially in the first half, when we were not that well playing.
