The save from Bony towards the end of the first half at 3-2 was massive. Also the one from DeGuzman in the second half too. I really think he saved us yesterday so I was amazed to see him taking stick again. If anyone deserves stick for yesterday it was our outfield players for their sloppy passing in our own half.

he looks like a rabbit in the headlights at times.
we need the shrink fella to get him pumped up and build his inner man strength.
he needs to be more authoritative and boss the other headless chickens in front of him. brendan needs to tell him its HIS goal area and he must take charge of it.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

He's not immune from criticism, he's part of a defence that has been woeful collectively. He's made as many goal costing mistakes as anyone else in that back line so it's only right people ask questions.
He is young though and it's his first season so I'd definitely give him next while at the same time be looking for some excellent competition for him.

No one is doubting that he has made some good saves and has saved us on a number of occasions. But in a similar way to people saying that Pepe Reina wouldn't have made some of those saves I also think that Pepe had a greater command of his area and some of the goals we have conceded over the last couple of months or so we might not have conceded with Pepe in goal. The difference between these types of goals are often these goals we have conceded recently have probably been attributed to a mistake by a defender rather than a goalkeeper but in some cases the goalkeeping situation is a factor.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostAmazed at the stick he gets if I'm honest. He made a few brilliant, important saves yesterday and none of the goals were his fault. He has his weaknesses but I think lots of you are being too harsh on him. He's saved us loads of points already this season. I think had Pepe been in goal yesterday we might not have won that game.
I don't want to make this a Mignolet vs Reina discussion, but it serves to illustrate the point, and IMO the people saying that Reina wouldn't have made those saves therefore Mignolet is the better is too simplistic an argument. I think that they are different types of keeper and it is very difficult to compare the two, we need a keeper who suits our style of play and to be honest the way both have played I'm not sure either fits that exactly yet, that said Mignolet has only had a year here and is young and still developing...Last edited by Exiled_red; 24-02-14, 07:03 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Glad I’m not the only one.
Have some extra points I’d like to add, but promised myself that I’d keep quiet about the keeper situation until the season is over and judge then.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

By Bascombe
Although his replacement, Simon Mignolet, made an impressive start to his career under Rodgers, Liverpool are believed to be assessing goalkeeper targets this summer, primarily as a backup to increase competition.
Hopefully this is true as like I said he really needs some serious competition

He get's way to much stick for a backup keeper.
Alway's been ready when needed and done a decent job. I think he is a very steady keeper, never seems to play brilliantly, never seems to fall out. Just the steady average performances. Not good enough for first choice, but defo have a role as backup.
Plus he never once moaned about not being first choice, that's quite some quality in a player in modern football.
I do understand the want for a keeper closer to challenging Mig, if he get's injured for half a year after a transfer window is shut, I think it could hurt us.
