Excellent at Aberdeen is a world away from being at Liverpool though. Mignolet's failings aside, do you think Ward good enough to play for us?

Yep, I said as much in the other thread - I'd put SPL at about a level with League One (at best). Thing is though, he's been imposing and confident, if that momentum of form is carried down here to Liverpool, then he's goig to be ahead of the other two straight away.

I hope Ward gets the Exeter game, because not giving him a chance ahead of Bogdan is ludicrous - both from the perspectives of Bogdan's form, and for the motives behind recalling him from a successful loan spell (which don't occur too often for LFC, when you think about it)

Suppose the other side of the coin is that for a goalkeeper, the difference in standard is nowhere near as noticeable. I don't think that the different leagues have any more or less shots in them, so it really comes down to the bonus abilities you get with a top level keeper

If he's a really good goalkeeper in any professional league, you might be forgiven for thinking that could transfer to the top level. Maybe

He grew up there and is a die hard fan, but moved to UK and supports Liverpool as his second team. He had this to say:

Ward not only didn't flog points with hilarious errors but kept us in many a game during our bad patch. I think he's almost ready, maybe after a couple of Europa games to make sure he can handle the pressure then stick him in.

Ha, its a common thing for Aberdeen fans to support Liverpool too. That's what happened with me when I was a nipper, but moving down to England when I was a teenager and the lack of any real coverage of the SPL saw me naturally gravitate towards Liverpool. That and the standard of football is so much higher, the players are better and its just a more enjoyable watch (at times ).

Well for us, there was a strong Scottish presence in the Liverpool team, which was a big seller. There were a lot of them playing together in the Scottish national team too, Souness, Dalglish, Hansen (sometimes...), Wark, McDonald, Strachan, Miller, McLeish, Leighton and McGhee to name a few.

Also, the two teams were kind of hand in hand with their apexes in the early to mid 80's. They had a machine like winning mentality, they revelled in exuding a f**k you mentality, they were from parochial cities and when you're a kid, both your teams playing in red meant something too

After watching last night's game I'm tempted to say a commanding goalkeeper should be our number 1 priority in the summer.

It wasn't just the first two goals Arsenal scored. He came out for more than one cross and got nowhere near the ball each time.

He's a good shot stopper but absolutely hopeless when he has to deal with a cross into the box.

Bogdan also needs to be shown the door too after his two horrendous errors recently

There's a good article on Mignolet in the Guardian today. Probably little is known of the fact that he holds a degree in political science and speaks five languages. When you think that some people call him 'simple Simon' on here, pejoratively of course, it shows some people's complete ignorance about him.
