You know what I am going to say.

He has improved but he's still not top class. If we keep him and he kicks on then great, I want him to succeed I really do but he will never be good enough.

He still has this tendency to scare the life out of you and those around, he's too casual and his kicking, well.....the less said the better.

I don't really get all this kicking malarkey, how many keepers can spray a Gerrard ball 60 yards? Mig's kicking has been fine recently, not sure what more you want from him.

He was commanding against several alehouse teams, surely that's progress!

I'm not talking about playing Hollywood passes, I mean dead ball kicks, balls passed back to him, goal kicks etc. His kicking is woeful mate.

Hennessey was blasting balls right down the centre and accurate long balls out wide against us the other day and they take pressure of fthe team and put you on the front foot. Mignolet doesn't do that and he's also ****ing terrible at short passes too putting the defence under pressure.

I hate having a pop at him but he gives me zero confidence whatsoever. He is never going to be a 'great' keeper no matter how much he is coached and developed.

As much as your showing your Hate for Mignolet....the entire defence is just as bad and should also come in for just as much if not more criticism...Goalkeepers are the last line of defence, which means the defenders have failed in their job.

To an extent they're at fault also however he sparks fear into them so you can't blame them for that.

To a very large extent the defence as you say sparks fear into him,he's a one player, yet a collective group of 4 defenders can't even consistently do the simpliest of things, now imagine what he must think? But to be fair gk and the defence are imo equally to blame....but truth be told lfc haven't been able to defend properly since rafa left and that's quite worrying.

Mig may be on good form now but you can bet your bottom dollar it won't last. Simply because he is mentally fragile and never more than one mistake away from a crisis. The defence are made nervous by him, not the other way around. Great keepers improve defences. Flakey defences don't make great keepers bad.
It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

                  And they don't help either...

Look at it the other way Bendy; can you think of a great defensive unit that included a hapless goalie? At the opposite end of the spectrum lots of porous defences get bailed out by the keeper's heroics. Bottom line for me is that if we want to be that team that wins league titles and European cups, we need a great keeper and unfortunately Mig does not qualify.

No and yes we do need a better keeper, but you need to tell klopp that as mignolet is our no.1 for next season, but you can't blame everything on the goalkeeper....can you say were a good defensive unit?look at the mistakes lovren has made, can't blame that on the gk.

Credit where it is due - he has been excellent in 2017 and listened to a pod where this was verified:

They also made the point that if we had signed him new in Jan we'd all be raving about him. His history suggests the next **** up is just around the corner but if he keeps this up then the new Mignolet is a top keeper!

That's an impeccable claim/punch rate this year. Have to admit I've never felt more at ease with the ball in the air in our area as I have done in the last few months. Let's hope it's not just a purple patch.
                          One tit for another.

Just had a look at passing accuracy stats for EPL keepers, and Wayne Hennessey is one of the worst in the Premier league this season. He is on 47.7% over 26 games for finding teammates with the ball, whereas Mig is on
                            59.8% over 25 games.

Now it is a stat that does not paint the full picture, but it does show that is far better at finding his own teammates than Hennessey.

Mig has plenty of faults in his game, but I think because we see more of him than other keepers that we as fans can be prone to thinking he is the worst out there and all these other guys are so much better.

Mignolet for me is a decent keeper. Not top class, not outstanding, but a solid keeper who would be getting praised if he played for a mid to lower table team.

His problem (and ours) is that he is playing at a club where expectations are much higher, and where mistakes and lapses in consistency will be highlighted much quicker by fans and the media than if he were back at Sunderland.

I would like to see us upgrade in the keeper position, and hope we do, but right now Mignolet is doing his bit in a positive manner on the pitch and is not a problem. With any luck he will continue that form for the coming four games.

Fair play, had noticed an improvement & credit where it's due, that's very impressive.

It's still a relatively small sample size in his time with us tho.
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

It is, but if he can keep his performances up for the rest of the run in, then he will have done his bit.

Just think we as fans, myself included, are quick to slam him when he cocks up but much slower to give kudos when he performs well.

An arguement could be made that him making saves etc is just him doing his job, and it was made in the thread, but if that is the case then forwards don't deserve extra praise for scoring as they are only dong their job when they do so.

                                For me it is simple.

Play poorly and you take ****. Play poorly on a regular basis and get a lot of ****.

Play well, get a slap on the back. Play well a lot and get lots of praise.
