Villa will deffo prove much tougher this season. It really is great news for us that they have to play Chelsea midweek. They cant have too big a squad, and that will be to our advantage. But it would be typical LFC to squander that advantage.

But IMO Villa is an improved version of Stoke and they didn't see too much of the ball in our half, and they struggled to play to Crouch and later Jones strengths. I think for most of the game vs Stoke we pressed them very well further forward, leaving their striker isolated. IF we can do that against Villa we will have an excellent chance.

Villa is a physical side as well, but I think we stood up well against the brutes from Stoke. I hope Hendo retains his place - I woudn't change a thing against Villa, except perhaps put Willian on for the last 15.

he had a worldie & Agger had a brain freeze. Thankfully it didn't cost us though.

agger went to volley the ball, missed it, and then the ball crashed into his arm. he was looking at where his foot would have contacted the ball.

im sure there is a slo mo video somewhere...

I just think he gets his body in some very weird positions on crosses sometimes and makes odd decisions about when to head/kick/shepard the opposition player.

Is it an advantage this early in the season? They are a young team so they cannot be tired, another game means less pre-season rust.

I am hoping that Toure will be more adept at handling physical fowards and contrary to reports, he doesn't seem to have lost much of his pace.

We held quite a high line against Stoke, something we could never do with Carragher and it will interesting to see if we would do the same with a team as quick as Villa on the counter.

IIRC he specifically said in an interview recently that he had been working on his mobility which is something that he had neglected in recent seasons.

I celebrated that save more than i can remember celebrating anything LFC in quite some time. Was a brilliant moment.

That Stoke player appears to have four legs.

Best thing about the reaction to the save for me was the players were still so chuffed that he saved it he had to pretty much yell at them to get into position for the corner
