However, I'm of the opinion that we were never in for those players listed and Rodgers hasn't been given the funds to overhaul the squad.

I believe that's Rodgers' project is much harder than first anticipated.
What is your point exactly? That we cant throw silly money after players like PSG, Monaco, Real, City etc? All the players you mention were overpriced in a market with Dictators and Crazy Russians with their blood money. Things have changed drastically, haven't they? I think we made bids that were taken above and beyond + we offer no CL ball these days.

That said you are right of course; There are no real funds available only a tiny hope of success through hard work. If it doesn't happen we will be sold to a rich Arab or another Oligarch. Inevitable, probably and a little sad if/when it happens.

    OR

Financial fairplay will actually materialize (Fat chance!)

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

We bid the required amount for all 3 of them and had bids accepted for 2. Gazumped by other clubs

I'm not talking about throwing silly money, I'm talking about throwing *some* money.

Granted I could end up wanting this thread burning come 2 September, but as it stands after FSG's initial splurge in to football transfers, the pennies seem to have dried up. They appease the fans by having the media telling us we're spending millions, only to tell Rodgers that he has to sell to spend. I mean, did he really think Chelsea would loan us Mata? He's got £2m left to spend this summer and it's Moses on loan unless he can persuade FSG to find £30m.

Where have you got that figure from?
            Oh I don't know.

Wow, there is an awful lot of conjecture in that OP.

If we're saying Rodgers has been backed with £50m net in his first 12 months at the club, and that we don't actually have any evidence there hasn't been the funds for the big targets we have failed to get this summer, at least at their entry values... I'm not sure there's any reason to build some big, fund-pulling, PR-spinning narrative just because in this one window we haven't spent £30m net yet.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
              Mine angry and defrauded young?

I've taken 2 + 2 and made £2m, a Batman symbol and the Monopoly dog.

In reality, I'm going by our summer spending spree and the profit we have made from sales (£2.6m). Completely unfounded, I'm sure you'll agree.

                  Yup.

So you don't reckon there is a transfer kitty at all then?

If there is a kitty of £30m, it's got to the stage where I'd rather there was £30m in the bank come September, than say £10m in the bank and a couple of players who won't actually improve the squad.

Spend the money, but on the right players. Not those who will suck up wages and valuable bench space.
                  Oh I don't know.

You could get a column on Koptalk with that.

What's more important? Buying a £30m player or buying the right £30m player?

Football isn't sustainable and hasn't been for some years. FSG know this, FIFA know this and the FA know this. I'm still convinced FSG are playing the long game.

Sooner or later clubs will have control of there own TV rights and will be able to spend within the financial constraints.

Winning an argument on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win you are still a retard!

Liverpool are not a top 4 team anymore

Fans need to realise this, then get behind the club
we cant spend loads of cash on players and wages if we are not in the CL and as can be seen they will choose CL over Liverpool.

Point of note. We are currently a top 4 team

But I am behind the club?

Surely we need to spend *some* money to challenge for fourth (or above) so that we become a 'top 4 team' again?

I disagree. The table never lies.
