My god you really hate him don't youOriginally posted by Arn View PostAgree with the trophy bollocks.
Even if we win the trophy and we finish in say sixth or seventh place in the league then it will most probably not save Rodgers from getting sacked.
The only thing that really counts this season is the league.
FSG have already showed that it is the league results that counts.

Agreed, tho I don't think that's the point he's making and suspect you knew what he meant,Originally posted by cream View PostWe don't exist to please Luis Suarez.
If we finished 5th every but won the carling cup would people be happy with that?
Personally I wouldn't, again maybe it's bit selfish but that's just my thoughts.
I suspect marksared is more suggesting the likes of Suarez, or coutinho, or attracting better players wont happen if we just do well in domestic cupsi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Doing well in the domestic trophies is important in a season when we aren't in Europe. Extra games means extra revenue from tv and gate receipts, gives a manager extra games to develop tactics and players, and helps instill a winning mentality in the team. In the end, both trophies guarantee European football, lower tier but still.
Winning one of the cups should not replace a decent league season, upon which any manager will be rightly judged. But football is about winning and acting like competition is not important and should not be respected, especially this competition in our current circumstances, is wrong imo.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Not every year, of course not. However if we finshed 5th this year with say, 72 points, we would have put up a good fight of it and shown another solid improvement in points, and then we won a cup as well? Worse things could happen.Originally posted by PTP View Post

See I agree with the sentiment, I really do...
But personally I don't care about the carling cup, couldn't give a ****. I know for players it's better to win trophies than finishing fourth and an all that
But I want us at the top, I want us challenging for trophies, winning the carling cup every couple of years is never going to get us back at the top
Finishing fourth, getting champions league, and building from there will
So for me we have 38 'cup' games this season, (well 36 now) that are massive games where we need our key 8 or so players in as many of those games possible..
And as I've said, for the cup games it's a good chance to give the squaddies and youth a game and of they can't step up and beat notts ****ing county at home then there is some serious issuesi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

The problem with this is that FSG have already showed that it is the league that counts. It is up to the manager if he want to risk key players or not in the cup games.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostDoing well in the domestic trophies is important in a season when we aren't in Europe. Rodgers already know after what happened to Kenny that the cups is just a bonus, nothing else.
If we get knocked out straight away in the cups and finish fourth then FSG will celebrate a lot. If we finish say worse than fifth and win both cups then it will probably be bye bye Rodgers and FSG won't be pleased at all.
Even winning a final in one of the cups is worth less than any of the 38 games in the league in our situation.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

Tonight showed we have man strength mental fighting capacity. It also showed Ibe is still many seasons away from being ready and Sterling needs to start taking his chances or see more of the bench as we start signing more players.
Personally I'd like to see Sterling succeed, but tonight demonstrated why Moses on loan makes sense for squad and possibly first team strength. One tit for another.
