There probably was. There was some quote from Rodgers in a Portuguese paper the other day (not sure if it was legit). Said plan was to sign him, getting him used to the club for 6 months then loan him out. Not sure the logic in getting him used to the club then sending him on loan. What if things change majorly at the club when he's on loan?

He cost us a Ilori money and he's not even getting a look in this lad.
Shame really.
If his footballing career doesn't work out he'll have no problem forging a career as Bruno Mars' stunt double.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Either that or not buy him at all.Originally posted by Sarb View PostShould have just done a buy and loan back deal rather than him wasting 6 months of his career. He was playing first team football there when we got him
We could have used money more appropriately short term.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Likely that'll always be true though.
Investments in the likes of Alberto and Ilori will be masterstrokes if they come through in the next few years and prove themselves to be worth many times what they paid. If they don't then obviously it is money down the drain.
Given that we can't hope to compete financially with the Chelseas and Citys (and we saw the difficulty bringing top class to Anfield right now with Miki & Costa even when we do have the money) we will need to mix these sort of deals for younger talent in with players signed to go straight into the first team if we truly want to compete over the next few season.
The example of Arsenal and Ramsey looks like it might be a good one....I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Agreed. The six months could be a good idea - give him a feel for the club and the city. How many players get "bitten" by the Liverpool bug. The six months will have hopefully made him feel a part of it all now, and make him work harder if he goes out on loan to improve and come back to the club.Originally posted by REDSCOUSER View PostLlori is one for the future or next season for that matter.
The days of young Hansen & Gillespie playing in the ressies to learn the trade for a year or two are gone, now everyone expects a new player to play in the first team straight away which is crazy.

we were heavily linked with this lad ALL summer, it was on, it was off and now he won't see the first team or fringes anytime soon.
