maybe ilori was never going to be good enough.
sending him on loan is fair enough but to also give the loaning club control of the situation is downright negligence.

if he thrives at villa and looks the bollocks then we are ****ed.
if he is ****e they can just send him back.

we have given away control of the situation. seems mental.

Loads of 'educated' opinions above about a player they've hardly seen. Now I know I'm back on Est1892.

Yes we have Lovren and Rodgers is blinded by the light coming out of his ass for some reason. But two wrongs don't make a right. Illori is not currently good enough and a loan to Villa as opposed to another **** league (that includes Spain!) is the BEST thing that can happen for him and us. I'm hoping he can make it. And for the first time we will all get to see how he's doing regularly.

Happy to see LFC conducting good transfer window business in this instance.
      One tit for another.

Also I'm sure the "option to buy" thing isn't as clear cut as it sounds. If we want Ilori back, he'll be here.

Its a nonsense. Basically means if he's not good enough for us we don't want less than X amount. If he is brilliant then you have the option to bid but we don't have to accept.

Sounds like a one year trial

That's not how it works - we've agreed a fee in advance, if they want him then he's theirs and that's the price they'll pay. Same as we had with Manquillo.

              From the Echo:
The Reds, who were granted a two-hour extension by the Premier League after the 6pm deadline to complete the relevant paperwork, will bank a £1million loan fee and Villa have the option to buy him next summer.

If the Midlands outfit want to keep the 22-year-old centre-back they will have to pay between £6million and £9million depending on the number of appearances he makes this season.

So how did you come to this conclusion?

I watched Illori a handful of times when he was on loan, no matter what league it was he was still better than Lovren

I wouldnt have been against another loan to the UK this season, its giving them the option to buy that concerns me

                    Thats total bollocks

Most deals of this type have a pre-agreed fee worked into the contract

IE they loan him for X period of time with X period of cost at the end of which they can make the deal permanent at X amount

So it's a one year trial? ****ing hell, can't all transfers be like this? At least we could give Balotelli and Lovren back!

this is my main issue with this deal...
if the lad goes to villa and grabs his chance then he will be a massive bargain for villa. daft that we can give them control of the situation. piss poor
maybe he will look rubbish, then villa send him back. if he looks great then we should be either looking to keep him or sell him for 20m+

Exactly - lose/lose for us. Either he's great for them and we'll lose a player who's proven in the premiership in a position we're weak in for less than £10m, or he's **** in which case we'll be stuck with him.

Well if we put that option in obviously he isn't in our plans, I guess the option is there as an insentive to Villa to buy him.

If he does go to Villa for £6m that plus the £1m loan fee at least means we break even on the transfer fee, anything above that is a profit.

IMO it's not the ideal situation but I guess you have to offer these types of deals if you want to charge a loan fee.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This is my big issue with the deal, combined with the fact that I don`t trust the staff when it comes to evaluation of central defenders. To me it sometimes seems like they don`t have a clue what to look for.

You've obviously seen the contract/paperwork so I bow to your knowledge on the subject.
