      Central defenders tend not to be brilliant when young, look at the hype surrounding John Stones. Quite misplaced. Just give Ilori enough games to convince Klopp that he is worth keeping or selling in the summer.

        He's done pretty well considering he's not played in so long. Hopefully he'll continue to show his worth in training as he gets to know his team mates as well.

          I tend to agree with a few of the above points. I wish I saw it, but there is absolutely no way that Stewart/Ilori performed in an eye catching manner and I can't see them being anything other than squad players at the best. Hopefully this changes because I really enjoy seeing youth player break through!

            The fact that a central defender didnt make an eye catching **** up is unusual for us
            I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

              Nothing to say that he might not prove himself to be good enough and like all of our youth players you hope they do push through and show enough to make it to the first team but at present the idea of him being a regular CB for us is optimistic to say the least.

              Hope and fully expect a new CB coming in this summer to play with either Sakho or Lovren as first choice

                They played well but the didn't put in outstanding eye catching performances, they put in good solid performances, which is what you want from your defensive players. They are young and raw it's very unlikely they are going to come in to the side in what is one of their first few games an look amazing. We won't know what they might develop into unless we give them game time. I don't have a problem with them just being squad players if that is what happens.

                Our youth system should be producing squad players that can at least come into the side and do a job, if they are better than that great, but bringing through squad players rather than buying them will save us a fortune in transfer fees and probably wages, which can then be used to bring in top quality players.

                            The headline writer was talking **** Dave. He wasn't picked and only came on for the last 9 minutes. Must have been one hell of a 9 minutes cameo!
