I just went over the corresponding fixtures from last season, and if we match our results from last season we'll end up with 70 points. And that's with only picking up 1 point in the next 4 games.

Going from 52 points (2011/12) to 61 points (2012/13) to 70 points this season would be a clear sign of progress, however I still can't help but feel we could (and hopefully, will) achieve more.
76 points is what we need to achieve. We are on course to reach that and it would pretty much guarantee Champions League football; it would show an incredible 24 point swing in just two years under Brendan Rodgers.
We currently sit on 42 points after 21 games. Given our form it is not un-realistic to win at least 11 of our remaining 17 games. That would comfortanly take us into the 75-80 points total.
4th is what we should be aiming for, anything higher than that is a massive bonus.
The problem comes when fans get deluded into thinking we 'should' win the league, that's when a point at home to Arsenal or Everton (for example) is met with hysterical meltdown, then negativity and criticism kick in.
**** all that, if you're not aiming for the top no matter who you are then you might as well pack up and go home.
