That's the closest to what I'd like to see also. Possibly bring Allen on for Lucas once we're 4 goals up. If Sturridge isn't right to play then Aspas up top.

Kolo's just come back. Sakho has hardly played. Agger we should rest if he's even available. Skrtel? Maybe rest him. Anyone else?

Play as many back up players as possible. The league is priority one. It would be madness if we played key players in the COC.

We can't risk a top four place by doing that. I wouldn't even play Suarez. It is against the Mancs but every league game is more important than a COC game against them.

Who cares if we get knocked out by them if we finish in the top four?

Would love Gerrard to be given the number 10 role just for this game. If nothing else it will highlight or debunk the theory of playing him there more regularly.

Not sure when we became good enough to rest players away to Man U in one of two competitions we have a realistic chance of winning.

Man U, City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs will all prioritise Europe and CL qualification aead of the Capital One Cup.

We're not in a position to do that, plus Moyes and Utd are down. No goals in open play after the 1st game of the season, 1 point from games against us, Chelsea and City.

I'd rest Sturridge for this one, maybe bring him on in the 2nd half. He can't play another full match so soon though. I'd also rest one of Gerrard or Lucas, bringing Allen in. Kelly needs this game for his fitness and would be a good opportunity to bring him back in to the team, as Johnson's replacement for the next few weeks.

It was purely personal preference why I went with Kelly. However, I believe you're right and Rodgers will go with Wisdom.
